  • Apparently these work. Have purchased but not installed as SHSBO wont let me have the power cable running down the wall.

  • Apparently they are only 3kg each, plenty of ways to hang something that light even picture hooks
    .

    • they are only 3kg each

only? 3kgs each is quite heavy….

      • I've hung heavier bookshelf speakers in plasterboard with a wallmate
        .

        • with picture hooks?

@bobbified: with a screw (speaker had the keyhole style hole)

wallmates hold well (10kg?), as long as there is no leverage i.e. the object needs to be against the wall (as per hanging a picture)
            .

            • @Nugs: ah, my bad… I misread the wallmate bit and thought you meant.. "… plasterboard with a wall, mate!"

I just checked the weight of my own Bose surround speakers and they're 1kg each. Not sure what Samsung put in their's!

Edit: Removed the second bit that I wrote about weight distribution of the a speaker vs a picture frame. Saw that you already wrote about it above. Nice work.

              • @bobbified: We have recently purchased the Bose Surround Speakers, but yet to be collected from the store. Any idea how much the receiver brick weighs? And any chance you have the dimensions of the brick?

@upended: I don't have a scale to weigh them, but they're pretty light. If I had to guess, I'd say they're about 200-300 grams each? It's about the weight of an orange. haha. You can feel it's not dense like a normal laptop brick or something… The size IS big though at approx..16.5cm x 7.5cm x 4cm.

I have the speakers mounted on either side of the couch with the Bose mounts and the power cable threaded through the wall so that both cables and bricks come out behind the couch (where the powerpoint is).

                  Hope that helps!
