Best Value/Quality LED/LCD TV 40-46" TV?

I am looking at buying a new HD TV LED/LCD somewhere between 40-46" but unsure which one to choose as there are so many models in each brand.

Budget is dependent upon size/quality but would be looking at around $600-800 for a 40-42" and probably up to $1200 for a 46-47". Would prefer the TV to be available somewhere where I can use my GE card on interest free terms instead of cash and then can pay it off before the interest kicks in - eg Harvey, good guys?

No particular preference on brand either.

Thanks for any help

  • In terms of features, I'd look at a Samsung Smart TV, LED Range. Their power consumption is amazing, and they have their own Foxtel App, so that could mean some savings for you.

You should be able to get one of their 5 or 6 series models…

    • thanks, Yeh I seen one on HN with 3 months free foxtel was the same price think its the same tv. does that mean you dont have to actually get a dish installed? assume you can just watch it through the internet?

  • -1

    Philips

    Fujitsu

    Sharp

    Toshiba

but 40-46 is pretty small son…if you can afford go for 60-70 inch range at least

    • 40-46 is great for most rooms. 60-70 is too big unless you have a long viewing distance or just want to show off how much money you can waste.

Note that all 'Full HD' screens have the same number of pixels, so getting a bigger screen and sitting close just means that you can see the limitations in image quality.

      • 60-70 pfftt.. yeh I will only be going 46 tops our living room isnt THAT big

      • You say that, until you actually put a 60-70 incher in your room.

        • I've watched enough tv and movies on oversized screens to know full well how bad it is.

I even know some people who admit that their 50 is too big for a small location.

But hey, if it makes you happy, ask me about these great HDMI cables I can sell you for ONLY $100.

  • LG 42'' lms6410 is being sold by Good Guys for 860-890$ ( check this week catalogue) - Its good TV

    -features-> 3dtv + 4 3d glasses,in built wifi,HD etc

Lg 42'' lms6700 - lil better than above for 999$ (Costco)

Above 2 models are checked by me as buying too.

    Hope this helps u somehow.

    • Thanks for the advice

We are looking at the LG or Samsung smart tvs but i am trying to work out what the DLNA is for LG? i like the idea of having wireless capability on the more expensive samsung ones but i wonder if I will actually use it?

I have a hard drive with moves etc which I connect to the tv I am not sure if I would actually connect my tv to my smart phone/ipad etc

  • its never too big for TV…..used to owned a 32 incher..loved it after i swap that for a 70inch ….

    • haha that is big! I am thinking the LG 47LM7600, 47" cause our living room isnt that big the 55" might be too much

  • Harvey Norman Munno Para has 40 inch TCL brand fullhd Partno: 40p60uf going for $397. Seems cheap. No frills. Looked ok. Nothing flash though.

    • tcl? no thanks id rather something decent

  • Let us know how you go. Was looking at a Samsung 40" in Dick Smith and it was visibly craploads better than the others in store (really smooth transitions, everything else looked a bit weird in comparison). I thought the sticker on the telly said 200hz, but the model number on the price tag was UA40EH6000 (series 6) (which I think is 100hz). Not to get obsessed about hz, just to point out I wasn't sure of the model number.

Price is $628.20 (with 10% off, offer finishes today). Seems like a good deal, but I'm still researching.

    • I ended up getting a Samsung 46" 7600ES, harvey had a bit of a special on the other week and ended up getting one on their 48 months interest free. I was looking at the 55" very nice tv but was about an extra $600. The picture quality on the one i got is awesome but the difference between HD and SD is incredible, although even SD is ok but the HD channels look fantastic.

  • Oh yeah, decide if you want 3D - makes a big difference to price. If you are going 3D try out a few. I have an LG monitor that does passive 3D - not trashing it, but lets say it is a unique experience…
