  300gsm might be classified as a summer quilt, warm in a decent room at current temps but way to warm in summer. I have a 200gsm cotton keeping me warm in a decent room to 10 degrees. I think a 100gsm or lower if even possible would be summer and great for layering. Smallest I have seen is 150gsm.
