Mighty Ape Price Match Sucks

I've been trying to make mighty ape price match some items in gaming category for a while now.

Never successful though.

I always get this in response:

We'd just like to let you know that we are unable to approve your Price Match request for Sonic Superstars.

However we can offer you 1 x Sonic Superstars at the price of $77.00.

Last price match was with JB at $54.
What they usually do is to give 1-2 bucks discount and never match the price for me.

On top of that they only do that Mon-Fri.
Had a chat with their support. They said support doesn't have ability to price match anything in gaming category. Only product managers can who only work Mon-Fri.

Basically don't waste your time with them.

It's seems they just don't want to go lower on games. Shame. Or your experience is different?

You could contact the ACCC and explain they are offering a Price Match they have no intention of honouring.
(or just shop @ JB HiFi)

From their website they only say they'll try to price match but it's not a policy.

      Lowest Prices
Our business is more efficient than a retail store which means you'll enjoy every day low prices on millions of products. We also offer Daily Deals and regular sales across entire categories. We'll also try to price match any of our competitors to ensure you always pay the lowest price.

if they are not the top tier customer of their distributors they might not have as good of a price vs JB etc. If they don't want to lose money doing a price match for you then just go somewhere else that's cheaper.

Not like they "guarantee" a price match, they only "try", and they tried…

Not exactly. I have 10 bucks off voucher I was planning to redeem on top of that price match. But there is nothing to learn from your comment it seems :)

Go with the cheapest retailer then, scratch Mighty Ape off your list.

  • I've only ever asked them to price match something once, and they did it. I don't remember what it was, but the price difference wasn't too big so that might have been why they were able to do it.

  • Vote with your dollars and stop using mighty ape, sooner or later they will go out of business.

  • Mighty Ape is part of Kogan group. What do you expect?

dw op i will support your right to be outraged though

  • Hahaha just a few days later… now they put this exact game on sale for $60. Despite rejecting price match request and offering $77.
Obviously I didn’t buy it from them.

But here we go. Example that they most likely could go lower, but had no intention to actually try and price match it.
Oh well it’s all clear now.
    Stay away guys :D
