Razer Leviathan V2 PC Gaming Soundbar with Subwoofer - $249 + Delivery ($0 C&C/mVIP) @ Mwave

20

Been watching this or the Creative Katana v2. This seems to be a good price delivered. Overall if you don't care for the lack of connectivity I think this is a great price point for a speaker that will fit under your monitor and not get blocked if you have a wide screen or limited space.

  • Sound quality wise, is this better than Creative Stage V2 2.1 Soundbar with Subwoofer?

    • From all the reviews I've seen, the Creative Stage V2 is basically the best entry-level soundbar currently available. I can't find any direct comparisons with the Razer Leviathan V2 but if you compare reviews of both soundbars, the Creative Stage V2 is the clear favourite and is less critiqued among reviewers.

  • I would gamble on this over anything made by Creative… After 4 years of owning the original Soundblaster Katana, the right side tweeter crackles and distorts and the subwoofer has blown with the outer rubber ring torn away and the voice coil popping. I rarely used the thing (mostly headphone user) and when I did crank music, it only went to about 80% max volume. What a piece of crap. The subwoofer and soundbar is fully enclosed so forget about replacing speakers easily without damaging it. Creative refuse to provide parts too and are very anti-repair. I have a 25 year old Technics stereo in the house that has been used 1000x more than this, often with the volume at 90%+ and the speakers are still in great condition today. Creative make their stereos with very low quality speakers.

    • Yeah but it's not like Razer products are well-known for their longevity and repairability either, I mean search "broken" on the Razer forums or Google "razer broken" and have a trawl through the never-ending list of complaints of every single category of their products breaking after a 1 year of use or less, whether it's mice, keyboards, headsets, speakers, microphones, laptops etc.

The "Razer tax" seems less justifiable given Razer's history of really poor product quality.

Not that it counts for much but I've personally had a number of Creative products (soundcards and DACs) that have lasted years and years without issue.

      • For what it's worth, I'm using the OG Leviathan and 8 years on, it's still going strong.

Having said that, I have other Razer stuff and while I've only had one RMA in the last few years, none of it screams "quality" with the build.
