I just bought the 2TB Samsung T7 from Officeworks and then I saw the Sandisk on sale on Amazon .
The sandisk is nvme and should be much more peformant.
Too late for me though but anyone else looking to buy a portable ssd this seems to be the better deal.

Those links don't support your claim. They're comments by misinformed clickbait repeaters.

This particular model isn't one listed as having that firmware issue.

I have a SanDisk Extreme Pro 1TB, and I've never had problems with it. The model I have is not listed as one affected, just like this model for sale is not either.

      Get the Samsung

Because Samsung doesn't also have firmware issues? Some solved, some unsolved. Brand favouritism isn't helpful.

  • I thought T7 is better. T7 is only $1 more.

    • This is supposed to have faster transfers.. But i am glad i learnt about the data loss issue.

  • T7 is a ripper

Isn't this the one with high failure rates and no fix from Sandisk?

These are good, don't listen to the outdated nerd-outrage. This model for sale isn't one listed as being affected.

The firmware issue was solved. There's a webpage dedicated to identifying if your drive is impacted.

    The key point:

"We addressed this firmware issue in the manufacturing process, and we can confirm that the issue is not impacting currently shipping products."

    • …we can confirm that the issue is not impacting currently shipping products."

Currently shipping = products currently shipping from the WD Malaysia factory

It does not mean the truckloads of stock that were in containers, in the distributor warehouse, sitting on the pallets in the Amazon DC and potentially being shipped in this deal

For a typical buyer of this drive, they are not checking for and installing firmware updates before using the drive

Why use code formatting for comments?

Anyway, this drive model is not one affected by the problem. There's no firmware for anyone to install.

Model for sale in this deal: SDSSDE61-2T00-G25

This model is not listed as having the firmware issue.

It's funny how you recommend Samsung, when their top 980 pro had nasty drive errors which were NEVER FIXED. My system drive has errors that can't be fixed. Samsung's own magician drive software throws an error when trying to check and fix the drive errors. So don't pretend Samsung is the holy grail. No storage manufacturer has a perfect record.

  • I'd personally avoid these and get the Samsung T7 range.
