77" Vs 83" TV - Is It Worth $1600 More?

Looking at getting the LG G3, the sitting distance will be just under 6.3m, the wall the TV will be sitting on is about 3.4m across, would you pay ~$1600 more for the jump to 83"

    Well I’d pay $1600 for another 6 inches…

      Another?

      Whoa…

  • I would if I had a big enough room to fit it

Yes, you never buy one and say I want it to be smaller after.

For that distance from the TV bigger is better, just be aware that the 83" panel doesn't get the micro lens array (MLA) of the other smaller G3 models so it won't be as bright as the 77".

It's very noticeably brighter when comparing the two side by side.

  • I'm waiting to see if the 83 G4 has MLA

    Will you miss the $1600?

    Buy once, cry once.

For an 83 inch 4K TV the THX recommendation is to sit between 1.7 to 2.4 meters away from it, for a 40 degree view angle. As you'll be sitting 6.3 meters away you should probably get the bigger TV if you want the most immersive experience. Even pull your chairs forward a bit.

And mount your TV lower than you are currently intending, THX recommends not having to tilt your head up more than 15 degrees. So you may wanna put it close to the floor…
