Imoo Z6 Kids Smart Watch, 4G Video Call, 8GB, IPX8 $259 (RRP $349) Shipped @ Auditech eBay

HGTNOV

My 7 years old daughter wants a smart watch to be her Christmas gift as all her other friends have a watch.

After spending some time looking for the best price, this is the best I can get. Discounted price for $279 with further discount code for another $20 off. The watch is selling for $349 in it's official website.

Lots of great features, what impress are:

  • Built in cameras to make video calls, which not every smart watch has this feature
  • Sim card slot for outdoor internet and phone access
  • Parent control, you get to control who can call your kids. Limit the access while it is school time (which turn it to a real watch and no access to any entertainment, focus on school)

Also come with Green colour here

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2023

Stuff like this will be banned in schools in some states? Looks that way in QLD at least.

    • Seems that way for QLD:

      https://www.news.com.au/national/queensland/politics/phones-…

Given Daniel Morcombe and other kidnappings it’s probably a little shortsighted.

      • Genuine question, how would such a watch prevent that? Or a phone?

This is not really a smart watch….it is designed for school. No Calculators, No Payment (NFC), No Games( Z6 has limited support but Z1 doesn't), No Heart Rate Monitor…it is ideal for my kid who take train to school so I can track him if needed.

Pick the one with SIM card, it connects to Telstra Network and good for 1 year. When I purchased my Z1, they don't have the bundle on sale, so I went to get the Coles Mobile (Optus) SIM. It works BUT connectivity is not great and dropping off everywhere. It is more on the lack of antenna on the watch than the SIM provider itself. Telstra should have better coverage.

      • Wonder if schools will just take the easy way out and just ban everything that looks like a smart watch. I haven't had to deal with schools for a long time. We'll have to take a look at all this stuff soon though as we have a toddler now.

        • This watch is more for Year 5/6. Anyone younger has no excuse to have this UNLESS they walk / take train to school by themselves.

If only Amelia Earhart's dad had bought her one.
Very shortsighted not inventing it sooner.

KidsOClock is one worth looking at for anyone in the market, a lot cheaper and a been happy with the one we got for our daughter. I haven't done the comparison between the two though.

    • How does KidsOClock and Imoo differ to the SpaceTalk range, Pixbee and Moochies at JBHifi? - Some of those are cheaper than the OP.

Genuine question, as my kids have been asking for Spacetalk since last Christmas, and then to try to persuade me they suggested the cheaper PixBee and Moochies which don't have very convincing reviews on the JBH website - particualrly regarding GPS accuracy.

And what is battery life like?
And does the SOS button get accidentally pressed?

What do you make of these one star reviews on Amaxon? https://www.amazon.com.au/product-reviews/B09R9NQSWM/ref=cm_…

Don't know, you will have to DYOR

I think up to a couple of days, although she charges it most nights like you would a phone, never know the SOS button to be accidentally pressed

One seems to deal with the data plan they offer, I didn't take that up, and the other seems to do with it hanging, haven't experienced that.

        • Appreciate the reply, Tryagain.
When you are looking from scratch, and there are ten different brands that don't give very much information, even the smallest feedback can be very helpful.
          Thank you.

iMoo also has Z1 version and cost about $150. Z6 has much better camera, some downloadable games, SMS (text) and bragging rights for the kid.

( I bought my son a Z1 (he is year 5) and he complained about how "bad" is the Z1 ….after 2 weeks, he becomes OK and no more complain as none of the kids use the extra functions after 2 weeks anyway).

Just watch out for some of these watches need monthly subscription (iMoo doesn't but it is Chinese brand), so there will be extra cost.
