Car Hire in Scotland - Australian P2 Drivers License

Hi All,

I am 29 years old with P2 Australian Provisional license.

I have been driving independently for last 2 years.

I was wondering if I could hire a car for 2 days for my trip in Scotland in January 2024.

Anyone got any experience booking a car with a provisional license, if yes, which Rental Company?

Any advice would be appreciated

Contact the DVLA and double check your provisional license is even valid for driving in the UK. All pieces of information I've seen so far seem to indicate only full licenses are allowed.

    Not going to happen.

  • Pretty sure most of western europe and UK is full licence and over 25 for car rental but it's been a while since I was not under with prof these thresholds

  • …hire a car for 2 days…

I'd be looking for alternate transport solutions.

    Nope hiring isn't possible.

Ye will walk 500 miles, instead, and then? >>>>>>>>>>>>>> 500 more

    • Just to be the man who will smile and throw up on your door.

      • Da da dut da-…. da-da dut da

  • They must have Uber in Scotland.

  • Where are you wanting to go for 2 days that a train wouldnt take you?

  • Public transport is quite good in Edinburgh but for anywhere else you require car. If you are a tourist visiting for highlands, there are quite reasonably priced tours and you can avoid rental car. Unlimited day bus tickets for £5.
