Samsung Care + and Getting a Refurbished Phone

My Samsung Care + subscription ends next month and I was thinking of getting a refurb since my s21+ battery is pretty poor (60% at noon with casual browsing and listening to music).

Looking at the T&C's, it states they will only replace your phone with the same model - or if not available, an alternative model. In my case, according to a Samsung rep I spoke to, it would either be a S22 or a s21U (which is what I want for the sweet zoom lens).

With the said, I am curious to see if anyone has had an "upgrade" by lodging a Samsung Care + swap?

I thought it would be a waste for me to not use the swap option before it ends and am not too bothered to get another S21+ if it means I can have a better battery again but an upgrade for $150 would be sweet!

  • It'll depend on stock. But asurion in au is not as generous as usa. A lot of forums are usa based.

More than likely, most people will receive a refurb same phone. Even if it's an older phone.

  • I have an S22U purchased with the plan thrown in. I was thinking the same thing when it was offered, but my phone it working fine and I’m sure if I swapped I’d get a refurb in exchange.
I generally keep the battery throttled back to 85% unless I’m travelling and can’t afford to have it run out of power.
Interested to hear how the swap has worked for others….

  • I would say the S22 isn't an equivalent purely based on the battery size. Run the gauntlet and push for an s22+ or S22 Ultra

in the bike industry they'd have to provide you with an equivalent or better frame if it was subject to warranty.
