There are no other taps/outlets on the wall? Can we get a picture of the sink and area next to/around it please?

I recently bought a house and discovered a simlar issue - there was no hot water tap. I got a plumber to put one in along with a outlet for the washing machine waste water… which you also seem to be lacking.

    • most definitely nothing on the walls, the only things besides a power outlet is in under the sink in the photos

Is your washing machine sitting on the left or the right of the sink? From the look of your picture, there is an overflow on the top side of your basin on the left. My laundry hose goes into that from the top.

    • it's on the left of the sink, there is an overflow/drain on the top left side, but that's for the drain hose and not the water inlet hose

      • I see. I misunderstood. I assume the tap outlet on the left is the hot water? The one on the right looks like it already has a tee on it. Maybe have a look and see if the bottom has a cap on it. Make sure the tap is actually turned off, then try to unscrew the cap. If it is not a cap, then you will need to get a plumber in.

From the photo you'd provided, the RHS inlet has an outlet capped off (at the bottom of the T junction).

Screw in the shutoff valve and unscrew the cap and attach your cold water inlet hose to this.

The washing machine outlet will discharge in the laundry tub via the outlet hose and U-bend bracket.

    • thanks, will try this shortly, i did try to undo it by hand but it was extremely tight, will find some pliers or something

My advice, use an adjustable wrench, not pliers.
Nothing worst than damaged fastener heads.

Plus, you'll need it to tighten the nut on the inlet hose to form a water tight seal.

i was headed to bunnings later today anyway, i'll grab one of these while i'm at it, thanks for the info

    • I second this, it's exactly what it looks like, hence why there is also a hole cutout in the side of the sink

You need to unscrew this part but make sure to turn off the valve first

thanks all, it was indeed meant to be connected to the RHS inlet, just needed a wrench to take off the cap

i can finally wash my clothes after a sweaty day of deals

  • So the solution is to attach the hose to this fitting. Does that mean no way to turn of water supply to the washing machine when not in use? Hoses have been known to burst.

    • I would rather live life on the edge and leave the taps turned on all the time.

  • Doesnt the pipe on the right have the attachment for one hose..probably cold.
I have recently been looking at houses to buy and two didnt have any wall taps for inlets hoses..but they were under the sink. Is the cold tap in tub working. U might need to attach hose to left pipe under sink and turn on tap under sink.
