Black Friday Versus Boxing Day Sales - Looking to Purchase Items for The New Year

Hey,

I'm looking to purchase items I need for a holiday in the new year. Can one expect better deals to come by for Boxing day sales, even for electronics?

Are most people buying now for Christmas presents?

Basically the items I'm looking for are:

Headphones for flight
Suitcase
Travel wallet, cubes, waterproof bag, toiletry bag
Power banks
Waterproof camera
Hiking sandals

Any input would be much appreciated!

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2023

  • From the deal I've been seeing and the momentum moving towards Black Friday sales - I'd be buying now.

  • On the Aliexpress site I noticed that the 11.11 sale had better discounts than Black Friday.

Amazon don't seem to have anything particularly enticing.

    • Headphones and powerbank sales have been disappointing, anything on Aliexpress at the moment?

      • Haven't encountered anything I wanted, at those (higher) discounted prices. Even on Amazon they are often products with mixed feedback like B&O earphones.

  • +1

Chasing deals is an endless pursuit. Buy now if the deal prices are within your means and you'll feel less regret. It's a mindset.

Would you rather fidget anxiously with an uncertainty the deals won't be better than now? When the day comes and it is lower but you bought earlier, be glad you bought earlier and knowing you have a whole month of less worry.

    • You have a great mindset

    • Didn't really see the deals I wanted for electronics. Headphones and powerbank deals underwhelming, maybe something will pop up on Monday.

Managed to get an Active TCN card for 15% off and purchased hiking sandals with them though!

      • Great work!

To further answer your OP question, it is a smart idea to purchase items now to pre-empt Christmas, not because of the discounts, but to avoid the Christmas rush. The week leading up to Christmas and Boxing Day are a nightmare if you don't enjoy crowds (i.e. shopping in-person/Click and Collect). Shopping online on Boxing Day won't net you a guaranteed delivery time because you're in-between holidays, so postage is also a nightmare (i.e. online delivery).

Personally, stock levels are poorer on Boxing Day because of the greater mass of people shopping compared to Black Friday, so that may also not guarantee your purchase unless you are trigger ready.

I answered with smart idea because it's up to the individual how they want to play the buying game.
