I had never played the Game Boy versions and this was my first blind-run experience.

I had decent fun with it, quirky humour, amazing OST.
It's the first 2 games remade, and the 2nd game was loads better IMO.

Wait…could've sworn I played a port of 1+2 on my DS 10 years ago. They re-hashed it again and they're selling it for 50 bloody dollars?

You might be thinking of Dual Strike which comes after Advance Wars 1 and 2 on the GBA and features the same set of character plus some new ones.

But either way I don't think this GBA remake is worth $50 considering they kept the same issues as in the original games (like the AI cheating through fog of war).

  • How does this compare to Wargroove? Wargroove kinda got boring

    • +1

Wargroove was inspired by Advance Wars, and I think they made it because there won't be anymore AW titles (Intelligent Systems say they'd rather focus on games with more characterisation - ie the Fire Emblem series).

Wargroove was (for a time) a breath of fresh air because it was a new AW-like game, it's not bad by any means but I also lost interest long before Wargroove 2 was released. The original Advance Wars is still better.

You sold me - ill get it 😊

  • If you don't have any stores near you with stock, consider signing up to OnePass, which is currently $20 for your first year (50% off the normal annual price of $40) as part of their Black Friday deal.

Since the game would cost you $9 for standard shipping, you can consider it as getting the annual OnePass membership for $11 more.

    • Can I just do the 30 day free trial instead?

It's a great game. I really enjoyed AW back in GBA days, and having the modern graphics made me play through it again.
