Call around.. there are some warehouse that still have a few. Picked up from Perth Girrawheen yesterday even even their website said none available.
8500 is better.. it rotates and oscillates whereas the 9000 only rotates.

Everything I’ve read about the 9000 says it oscillates and rotates also. Would be very odd if it didn’t.

guys call ahead to chemist near you. most of them have in stock. just do check before deciding to get another one. there was showing none in Brisbane north earlier. but i called and found almost every store has 2 :D

The 8500 and 9000 are the same toothbrush, they have the same specifications, The only difference between the two model numbers is that the carry case on the 9000 can charge the toothbrush directly, by plugging in the power adaptor to the carry case. Whereas the 8500 is just a carry case only.
The case for the 8500 charges the tooth brush as well. It comes with a regular charging stand, a case, a charger for the case, and 3 different heads. As far as I can tell the sole difference is that the 9000 has a tongue cleaning mode.
