AV Receiver Recommendations <= $1200

Looking for a recommendation for a home theatre receiver purchase. Weighing up the options, and not sure which way to jump.

Replacing a ye-olde Onkyo TX-NR616. Will be running 5.1 initially, with a view to jumping up to 5.1.2 in the near future when I add the 2 x overhead speakers in the coming month or two. Speakers are Kef Q700 mains, Q200c centre channel and a pair of Q800DS for the surrounds. Sub is an OSD TreVoce8 DSP.

Mainly movies and TV watching. No music. Looking for decent features and bang for your buck, without needing to blow the doors off, power wise. Will be running an Apple TV, PS5 and Xbox Series X (so HDMI 2.1 is a must).

Options I'm considering:
Denon AVR-S770h: Currently available for $740 shipped via Ebay. Seems a good price for a capable receiver with decent power. Concerns about the "S" models, and wondering if it is worth going up to the "X" line.
Denon AVR-S970h: Seems to go on sale for $880 fairly regularly. See above, with a bit of additional power.
Denon AVR-X1800h: Can be found for $950. Increase to the Denon "X" line, and seems to be the best option for my needs.
Denon AVR-X2800h: If available anywhere < $1200, I'd buy it.
Yamaha RX-V6A: Price is dropping, but a few years old now and reportedly still has issues with handling HDMI 2.1 console input.
Onkyo TX-NR6100: Hovering around the $1200 mark, with a lot of features. Onkyo parent company issues Re. warranty etc are a slight concern.
*Others**: Pioneer VSX-935? Sony STR-AN1000? Something else?

Appreciate any input, especially from anyone who has been down this particular rabbit hole recently. Should I just bite the bullet and go with the AVR-X1800h? Thanks :-)

    Contact all of the places that sell the Denon 2800h.

    I just got one for $1360 after asking for a better price for Black Friday and came with the bonus soundbar DHT-S217.

    Sell the soundbar to a mate for $160 or more and there is your $1200.

    • Will do. Thanks. Where did you get yours from? Who were the most willing to bargain?
