QFF Double Bonus SC offer

Hi everyone,

I'm currently a Bronze member and I received an email from Qantas offering double status credits on flights booked between 2/10/2012 and 31/12/12. I'm currently on 260 status credits and I have a flight (CNS-SYD) booked in V class on 18/11/12. I understand that this will get me 40 status credits and a bonus of 40 status credits putting me at 340 SC and qualifying for Silver.

Later this year, probably on 25/11/12 I'll be flying out to America on a sale fare which would put me into discount economy. So far the planned itinerary is SYD-LAX-SYD all on QF metal. I understand this will give me 90 status credits and 90 bonus status credits.

Does it matter if I book via Qantas.com or through my travel agent? (I'm on better… I mean cheaper terms with my travel agent).
If I understand correctly that as long as I have a ticket with a QF number I'll get bonus status credits. If that's the case is it possible to fly:
SYD-HNL on QF metal (35 SC)
HNL-LAX on AA metal with a QF number (25 SC)
LAX-JFK on QF metal (25 SC)
JFK-LAX on AA metal with a QF number (25 SC)
LAX-SYD on QF metal (45 SC)

and get bonus status credits on all segments to give me a total of 310 SC? If that's the case, is it correct that I only need another 50 SC to qualify for Gold before the end of the year when my membership year ends? If so I'll be figuring out a way to get 50 SC exCNS (CNS-BNE-CNS on a sale fare?).

The T&C's in the email are
* You can earn Status credits when flying on eligible flights and fares with Qantas, oneworld Alliance airlines (airberlin, American Airlines®, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Finnair, Iberia, JAL (Japan Airlines), LAN, Royal Jordanian Airlines and S7), Air Pacific, Jetstar or QantasLink services - see the Airline Earning Table. Status credits can be earned on flights operated by Jetstar Airways where a Qantas flight number is entered on your ticket when booked in Y, B, H, K or W class, or on a Jetstar Starter Plus, Starter Max or Business Max fare only.

^ The travel required in each Membership Year to attain or retain Silver, Gold or Platinum status level must include a minimum of four Eligible Flight Segments with Qantas, QantasLink or a Jetstar Airline with that airlines flight number on your ticket.

~ The offer is only valid for the recipient of this email for new bookings made between 2 Oct 2012 and 31 Dec 2012, for travel segments commenced from 2 Oct 2012 until 31 Dec 2012 (based on scheduled departure time at departure port). You must register for this offer via the above registration link in the main text area of this email by 11:59PM 31 Dec 2012 AEST to be eligible for this offer. Travel is subject to availability and any applicable fare conditions. This offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other Status credit offer by Qantas per each individual segment of your itinerary. Bonus Status credits may take up to 6 weeks after completion of your travel to be credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account.

Status credits may not be earned on some fare types and booking classes including Classic Award flights and Qantas codeshare flights (i.e. with a QF flight number on the ticket) operated by Jetstar or Jetstar Asia other than in Economy booking classes Y, B, H, K, and L (when booked as part of a oneworld fare). Qantas Segments booked in X, U, Z or P classes are eligible to earn Points and Status credits only when booked as part of a Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Award. For details visit qantas.com.

‡ Qantas provides preferential access, when available, to selected Qantas Classic Award seats to Silver, Gold and Platinum Frequent Flyers. On selected flights, preferential access for Gold and Platinum members may be above the access available to Silver and Bronze members

± Subject to availability of requested seats. Silver Frequent Flyers are entitled to complimentary Advance Seat Selection on Qantas international flights with a QF flight number on your ticket

∆ Extra checked baggage allowance is only available on Qantas operated jet flights with a QF flight number on your ticket (excluding Jetstar operated services). Size and weight restrictions apply. Visit qantas.com/baggage for details.

  • If you have the opportunity to achieve it, go for it. It's well worth having if you can do it. Good luck with it.

    • That's the plan. Would only go for SG if I knew for sure that those AA flights with a QF number will give me bonus double SC's.

  • Kind of sucks that we didn't get the same email. :( lol

    • What email did you get?
(Called Qantas up to check whether I had to book online or could go through my travel agent and even they couldn't find the promo I got offered, although confirmed that I was registered and eligible to get double SC)
