Sony NEX-C3 ILC Camera with 18-55mm Lens - $400.97 Inc. Shipping @ 1-Day.com.au

160

Seems to be a decent price for a discontinued sony NEX model with the 18-55mm kit lens, and it's at least $100 cheaper than the next price to the F3 replacement. 1-day doing different colours, black silver and red still in stock. Looks like a 1-day.com.au 12 month warranty, and not Sony backed but it's new stock and potentially TRS 10% discount as GST is paid. It's about the same price as the Olympus EPM1 kit and I think the C3 is slightly better as it's e-mount lenses are quite nice.

UPDATE: 1-day.com.au have confirmed there is no flash in the box due to supplier not giving one, and is a 12 month 1-day warranty.

  • should edit the title to include the price. nice find. Thanks.

  • Bah beat me to it. This is a great price and is still $529 at Kogan.

  • Plus shipping $10.98 so total is $400.97

  • Is the flash normally bundled with these cameras?
I didn't see it mentioned in the package contents so checked with 1-Day and they told me its not included with this one.
Something to keep in mind if you need it.

    • indeed, i just checked with them. apparently their supplier doesn't include it in the box….weird, but true?

  • Can someone please give me some advice please. If i get this camera without a flash, will that pretty much render the camera useless at night and end\buying a flash for it anyway? They look to be about $150.00 or so off ebay.

    • Any camera is going to need light at night, be it from a flash or other source..

The one I think your referring to is the HVL-F20S which is a more powerful flash.

The standard one I think is HVL-F7S and goes for about $80 on ebay.

    • +1

i bought the nex3 last year, if it is the same model as the nexc3, then the sensor is pretty awesome in low light. however i would still recommend a flash for nights out e.g. dinner at low lit restaurant (i bring the flash attachment along, but rarely use it)

      • what do you think of the camera? Recommend? I think i am just about to pull the trigger.

        • my friend has the c3 and says it is awesome in low light. I would get it, claim 10% tax at the airport, and use the $40 give or take to spend on a 2nd hand screw on flash from someone who's selling their old NEX 3 or 5.

        • yep - i would recommend it :)
having said that, it'll depend on how you'll use it
i went to a photography beginner's class, most people were using either nikon or canon eos5dblah blah.. the other cameras seemed to be more "pro" friendly and easily adjustable in terms of settings, whereas it was a bit more fiddly with the nex3
but for someone who wants more than point and shoot, without too much complexity, and to also be able to just shoot in full auto mode, this is a good camera :)

  • These micro 4/3 cameras are great & fit in between P&S compacts <—-> DSLRs. The sensor on this is larger than other m4/3 cams which take cropped photos. NB that these don't have an optical viewfinder (avail as optional attachment?).

    • I don't think the C3 here can take hot-shoe attachments but the 5N can, so you won't be able to buy the optional viewfinder which around $250.

    • This is a APS-C camera not a m4/3 camera.

  • I have a DSLR, but looking for a compact camera to keep in my bag. Would this be worth getting?

    • Yes and no..the body itself is near the smallest but the kit lens is quite big so it's not a pocketable ILC. You can get the 16mm or 50mm pancake/macro lens to make the whole package smaller but if you really need size the Olympus PEM1 at Myer with a twin lens kit is the same price, albeit the PEM1 low light perf. And general performance shot on shot is lacking the NEX c3's quality

    • probably Canon s100 or something similar is a better option for you. if need a small backup p&s in your bag or pocket. I've got one and I like it. E.g. after a couple of beers at a party my ability to maintain focus while shooting video deteriorate significantly, so I put my pentax kx aside and use canon s100. if it is not low light conditions, quality of s100 video is quite desent. stills are not as good but still OK. although for stills I would still use pentax kx (with some extra care).

  • Has anyone received their camera yet? I am still waiting and haven't heard anything from 1-day yet.
