Can You Use Cashrewards + AmEx for Online Purchases?

As title says, I’m wondering if Cashrewards works with AmEx for online purchases.

I noticed that when linking a card in Cashrewards it only mentions Visa/MC. Is this only for receiving cash backs on in-store purchases?
