For those wanting to try wood litter, this is a reasonable price. Valid for a week or so, maybe a cashback fairy decides to visit until then to sweeten the deal?

You’ll need a litter box like this one from Kmart.

  • alternate, and cheaper, especially the more you buy - this is what i use (currently):

    potentially even betterer:

if you have an equine supply store anywhere nearby, its the same gear they use for horse bedding and you may be able to get cheaper again (for horses, they throw bags of this on the floor, cut an x in it and water it - to covert into fluffy soft wood for sleeping).

Its what i plan to look into next time, i just got the above as a starter kit….

for example, if youre in Sydney, this mob (in kensington) has 15kg bags for $17.95 (at time of last contact a few weeks back)

if its good enough for the anal horsefolk, then it should be fine for cats

15kg for $17.95 is really good. My local equine supply store sells pellets 20kg for $25. Never got around to make the trip.

  • i absolutely love pine pellets. game changer! unfortunately, at this price, its daylight robbery.

i used to go to bbq galore and buy their 20kg pellets for 11aud (i think). and then pandemic hit and they dont stock them anymore.

    • Bunnings have some, at higher price but might work for you.

  • Is aldi cat litter Clumping for $0.74/kg $7.39 for 10kg bag ok?

Yes, they are probably the cheapest everyday clumping litter you can get and it does clump properly. I have also tried both Cole and Woolworths branded ones when there was a shortage at Aldi, one of them do not work but I forgot which. I have found the paper ones although pricer, lasted longer and tracked less. But paper doesn’t work quite as well for the smell.
