Mens Ankle or 1/4 Crew Socks That Aren't Ruined after a Dozen Uses

Looking for decent ankle or 1/4 crew socks that aren't either too stretched to stay up or have holes in them after a dozen uses. Sick of spending good money on socks only to have to throw them out a couple weeks/months later. Best ones I've ever owned were some Adidas that I still have a couple pairs of to this day, but Adidas now make them a lot thinner and cheaper (and therefore they wear out way faster).

Anyone know of any good brands that make some good socks? Would like some with a bit of colour (see: Saucony) instead of just black/white if possible. I like being able to keep them paired by usage and colours helps with that.

The skate brand with the fat shoes that everybody wore as loose as possible in 2005-2010? Sweet, thanks.

    • Yep, had my globe socks for 6+ years. Worn a lot. One of the best socks out there.

    • Thanks - bought a pack to try out~~

Not sure what you’re doing with your socks, but mine last pretty long. I haven’t bought new socks in probably two years. And I wear them for work and the gym and going out.

Perhaps they never cut their toenails or are wearing a size too small?

There are different styles. Some are thin and some thick. The thicker ones last me pretty well.

Bonds used to be good but don’t last anywhere near as long now

Don't bother trying Nikes OP, they use to make really long-lasting socks too, but the last few i've bought have all been thinner and worn holes within a few months.

  • Thorlo brand. They are fairly expensive but last and last. And are the most comfortable socks I’ve ever worn. As a tightarse I only ever bought seconds off eBay and bought enough to make the postage from US worth it.
I have pairs that must be 15 years old and they refuse to give up. Super comfortable.

  • I like being able to keep them paired by usage

What kind of different usages do you have for socks? Work? Sport? Hiking?

    • No, usage as in how worn they are. I hate having a good sock paired with a sock that has stretched elastic or is thinner from more use. Especially if I'm in a rush and can't find the matching ones.

      • Ah right, gotcha.

      Always have had one.

      • maybe check the detergent?

  • Volley no show are long lasting and comfortable. Normally ~$10/pair, but can be had at 30/40% off fairly regularly. They are pretty thick though, so if your shoes don't have much room in them, they might not be the best bet. Wifey swears by the puma ones that Costco sell. Normally they last for a year before getting replaced.
