    Knife under the name of celebrity chefs are inflated in price. I accept the above not the best but consider bang for your buck it's good. I bought 3 varieties at good discount for present and keep 1 for myself. They are above your Wiltshire and similar but not as good as my global or wusthof

        I'd probably still go with the Mercer, though as @toan duong mentioned, it is a larger knife so that can be a factor. The Mercer 8 inch chefs knifes are about $20 or more expensive.

        Keep in mind that Henckels or Henckels International are the budget lines of Zwilling Henckels.

  Used one of these before and found the build quality was okay for a cheap knife but the curved back made any kind of moderate kitchen work a pain. Chef's knife is generally the one you want to spend at least a bit of money on, so if it was me I'd just grab something cheap with a good shape like the Henckel's 8 inch chef https://www.amazon.com.au/HENCKELS-17541-203-Solution-8-inch… and save my money till someone drops a sale on the Global 20cm chef's knife (Bourdain approved, grab the combo wet sharpener with it and you'll have a great time).
