Seller's store page

I decided this will be my next coffee grinder as I've read good things about it.
I'm happy to find Auspresso is listing on eBay and willing to give them a go as they are an Australian distributor for the "Coffee Tech" brand and I have seen good reports about them online.

This is a PRE-ORDER and the eBay voucher only has a couple of days left on it
Stock expected: 6 December 2023

Probably those who know the grinder, already know this… however…
This DF64 Gen 2 unit is
- Australian delivered stock from the manufacturer
- Australian plug
- Australian warranty
- The most current model (white button)
- 64 mm Diamond Like Coating (DLC) burrs are standard
- Available in Black or White

I hope you find this is a good deal from a good seller! :)

That is a different grinder. The Gen 2 is a new release with new features. And reportedly a much better grinder.

      • At this price the first gen should have been perfect and gen 2 unnecessary

          Not arguing, just saying.

To be fair, most products evolve and get better over time though. And there's hardly ever a 'perfect' product, particularly first time out.

Having said that, my gen 1, or gen 1.something seems to work fine for me. Please don't tell me why the second gen is better.

If you don't mind wait for a couple of months, df64coffee.com has a pre-order of $631+shipping with same DLC burr set or you have option to upgrade to SSP burrs.

Yeah I'd argue this is a bargain, it's more just the first company to have Aus stock and appear to be charging a premium.

    • Yep, would prefer to upgrade to SSP burrs and forgo the Australian base warranty for the same price. Df64coffee also provides warranty just not too sure what the process involves as mine hasn't failed (hoping it stays that way).

  • I prefer the DF64V over the Gen2 based on the features. I have the DF64V with SSP Cast burrs in Red Speed coating.

  • I waited to see the price on these in Aus for Black Friday but unfortunately they really missed the boat (probably literally) for that.

Ended up getting a Varia VS3 Gen 2 for $520, didn't want to deal with the wait, or the possible warranty nightmare, of buying from df64coffee.com.

Had to replace an ancient Rancilio Rocky

  • Serious question. What does this one do that a Breville Barista with grinder unable to do? Precision?? Having said that, owner of this grinder probably own a commercial grade machine? (Not having a stab at the bargain or anything just curious to understand the difference)

    • A grinder is a grinder. You can use a cheap grinder and it still make good coffee but it probably not going to be consistent everyday.

People spend big bucks on grinder so they can control fewer variables that can help them achieve a consistent taste on an espresso cup. In the end, the more it costs, the more consistent its grind particles are and even more finer grind adjustment. A good grinder will allow you to achieve that. Hence, it is one of the bang for bucks upgrade.

This grinder is probably in budget tier. There are echelons of grinders in 2k+. People are willing to spend that much on it because it does affect espresso taste significantly.

I think James Hoffman can explain grinders better than I do.

    • Grind time is almost half that of breville which means it doesn't burn the coffee due to the burrs heating, almost zero waste (if you feed it 18 gms beans it will output 18gms ground coffee) breville retains a lot of the coffee between the burrs, consistent output. There are many other reasons. Youtube has several comparison videos.
