Telstra 5G Modem 2 - What to Do with It?

So, I signed up for the $1 Telstra Home 5G Broadband. They shipped me a Telstra 5G Modem 2 for the trial. I'm not happy with the speed (my phone got 400MBps inside, while the modem only give me 150MBps max).

I told them to cancel my trial and they did, they told me they'd send me a return shipping label via email so I can ship the modem back to them. They never did. I've tried to contact them a few times but they just told me the same thing.

Now a few months passed and I'm still having the 5G Modem 2 with me. What should I do with it? I'm tempted to sell it but it's not mine though…

Call Telstra? This is Ozb not Telstra support 😉

    • I chatted with them about this a few time. In fact, I have to chat with them when I wanted to cancel my trial ;)

    Same on Boost:
Started off with full 5G speed
now smaller plans are limited to 150MB/s
Anybody here wanna buy a used Boost sim card?

Just walk into a Telstra shop and leave it on the counter. They will figure it out.

You've agreed to a contract to buy or to return it.
Assuming you are unwilling to pay for it in the future, there is no way I would sell it until at least the end of the contracted period.

There’s kids in Africa with no internet. Maybe them

    • +1

5G rollout in Africa has been slow, those kids may not have a use for this modem.

  • eBay.

  • Classic Telstra. I know a few people who have piles of Telstra modems, Foxtel boxes and remotes, waiting for return labels.

  • What did you end up doing with it?

  • Take it back to your nearest Telstra store.

  • Or if you can open the unit you should be able to replace the Sim card with a 5G Sim card from a Telstra wholesale provider and get full speed.
