I've had this model torch for 6 months, and it's been great. USB C rechargeable, and simple to operate. It's got 2 modes, moonlight and full chat. All the other Keychain lights I've found have annoyances for me… Like strobe modes and buttons that get pushed too easily in a pocket. This is simple, twist a bit for low, and a bit more for high. Undo it, and the USB port will become exposed for charging, but the head will remain attached.

I doubt this'll get too popular, there are loads of alternatives out there, but this is a quality little unit that's very bright if you need it to be. OLIGHT did have a deal where you could get it for "free", with 8 buck postage, but it looks like you already had to have spent a few bucks previously in their store to qualify. That offers not currently on, but according to comments, will probably be on for Christmas.

Blue and black are currently cheap, orange (what I've got) is an extra 3 bucks or so.

Honestly a worthy addition to your Keychain.

Great keychain light, compact, bright, intuitive to use, and the low mode is nice and easy on the eyes if you just want a little light.

OLIGHT did have a deal where you could get it for "free", with 8 buck postage, but it looks like you already had to have spent a few hundred bucks in their store to qualify.

You'll qualify for this light on your second purchase with olight, that includes buying another "free pay shipping" deal. So first $8 shipping you'd get the AAA version, second deal (and thereafter) you'd get the usbC rechargeable for $8, as long as they're on offer

    • That sounds great - How does it work? You add any item to your cart for your second purchase, and then add this one from its product page? It doesn't come up as zero for me, if that's how it works.

You'll have to wait til the next time they run the "free login gift" promotion, sorry if that wasn't clear. Christmas/new years they'll almost definitely do another.

You get the "better" login gift if you've made any purchase from the olight site by the time they start their next promotion. No guarantees that it will be this USB-C rechargeable torch, but they come up pretty frequently

I've got a AAA keychain flashlight, micro-B rechargeable keychain, gober safety light, and this last black friday deal will be my second USB C keychain, each for $8 shipping through promotions. They're great quality and make good gifts if you can resist using them yourself

      • That offers expired asfaik. The current offer is a AAA based torch for "free" with a $1 purchase plus shopping. I might be doing it wrong, but looks like their cheapest item on the site is a (sadly useless for these torches) clip for $1.95, so you pay $9.90 for a quality Keychain torch that uses a AAA.
Still not bad, but also, not what I wanted. If that other deal comes back I'll be interested. I thought that you had to have a certain membership point level to get one though. As it is, if you want a USB c Keychain torch, the deal at amazon is currently hard to beat.

I do like mine, it's been good.

I've had "iron" membership for over a year - I've not seen the USB C version offered to me. Maybe needs a higher tier.

          • @y2k: I'm iron and this was my freebie offer recently during a sale. I would have preferred the aaa twisty keychain light over this - I see the rechargable one as a downgrade. I didn't take up the offer.

            • @poohduck: haha, I've got the AAA Twisty one and want the rechargeable as it has moonlight mode!

Agreed! I'd rather (and have) 2 torches for $16 than 1 for $20

    Wuben G2 better?

    • If that's your taste. But I hated my G2.
I let it disappear somewhere at home.

      • Have only had mine for a few days, so far liking it. But time will tell.

    • Very different form factor, looks decent. If you don't mind green, amazon have it for $21. I'm generally not a fan of lots of modes on a Keychain, and it's got a lot of plastic… I also don't like buttons, as I've found that they'll often turn on in your pocket by accident.

G2 is hold / double press for on, so no issues with it turning on in a pocket in my experience.

That said, I love the form factor for some stuff (and the light overall is excellent), but didn't love it on a keychain.

Is for me. Clip + magnet = hands free use and way more applications. More modes, cheaper and usb c also, not even close.

      • I have the Wuben C3 too and USB C is a no brainer for me. I honestly don't know how much use I'll get out of the G2 but so far I've used it a few times fumbling around in the dark to get my keys in the front door, so it's doing ok

Must look dodgy to the neighbours though with the bright light flailing about as I find my house keys haha

I've had the previous micro usb verson on a keychain for years. I barely ever need to charge it and it's copped a beating and still going strong.
My other keychain has a Nitecore Tube on it which, to be honest, I probably prefer, just because it has a button instead of needing to twist to turn on. It doesn't look as nice as the olight though.

    Thanks mate, got one.

Great for bedside table and for tracking down annoying Mozzies in a pitch dark room. The bight spot beam makes it much easier to spot compared to just turning on the room light. The little black flying bugger shows up nicely :-)

  • While the OLIGHT I1R2 is a nice light, IMO twist on/off lights are not good on a keyring, because you typically need two hands to turn them on or off.

Whereas a button push is much more useful when you don't have another hand free.

Bang for buck, I love the S11 style clones of the Rovyvon A5 keyring torch. Quality varies, but I have found these ones from eBay to be great - and only $8.16.

Very bright at full output, plus multiple brightness modes down to moonlight. The tail magnets and side light (including UVish) are useful more often than you'd think. The glow in the dark version is cool, but the plastic does absorb a bit of the side light output - especially UV.

These give about double the output of the I1R2 for a few minutes on turbo, and sustained is about the same. Same diameter, but ~15mm longer. Over 3x the battery capacity and run time. A few grams heavier.

I attach them to all sorts of things using Nite Ize S-Biner lockers. Buy the multipacks / keyracks rather than individual s-biners for brtter value if you want multiples. Plastic or metal seems to be cheapest atm from Bunnings.

  • I got an O-Light headtorch, man that thing is powerful! I use it has my riding light on my bike

Also got the Micro USB keyring version of this in a previous deal, fun to use around the house!

You don't need to have spent a few hundred, I purchased this for about $20 a few years ago and got the free AAA battery one in that deal. Ever since then I've been able to get the free ones for $8 postage. I've got more than I need now.
