Do you think retailers will sell old stock of the OG PS5 to get rid of them to make way for the Slim? Was just about to buy a PS5+Spiderman 2 from EB but they literally got rid of the page today.

Why are you adverse to the Slim variant? It’s the same functional performance with tiny bit more storage in a more compact case.

Currently waiting for JB Hifi to fullfil backordered old ps5 purchased last black friday sale. They said they cannot give exact dates as to when they will have available stocks, they will just call me when it arrives.
Thinking of getting the slim version if it arrives earlier that the backorder.

I gambled and waited for further price drops. I didn't expect every retailer to take off the OG PS5 from their websites though, so obviously Sony has sent some directives behind the curtain.
Next best option is to see if there are any deals on the Slim in the lead up to the holidays.

Saw heaps of stock of the OG at Costco Ringwood yesterday. Wasn't discounted though.
Wouldn't be surprised if others stores also have stock, but just not listed on their sites.
Costco might be the exception. I asked 2 JB stores today and 1 EB Games, all said the phat is gone from them, no more stock.
I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but the comments regarding Sony scheming in the background is true with respect to the 'fat' PS5's. Unless you're good friends with somebody who works at an electronic retailer, there's a very slim chance (pun intended) you'll get the fat PS5.
I was speaking to an employee from one of these stores and Sony has put a halt to any promotion or sales of their remaining stock. Even if they have stock, they're directed to say 'nil stock'. The staff member didn't give me any more details, but I'd speculate they'd be released from the freeze after Boxing day sales and will most likely be purchased by staff and on-sold on ebay/FB marketplace. He revealed that they had x2 in the back, but can't sell them. That excluded the demo console in-store, provided and owned by Sony.
Sony doesn't want to compete with its own product.
yes? it was like very low 600's at black friday and only a few months ago they were going for north of 800.
