7-Eleven Australia’s Family Owners Sell for $1.71b

7-Eleven Australia has just been bought by the parent company 7-Eleven & I Holdings in Japan. I wonder what changes we will see in the future… Fuel lock changes? More sushi? Hot pork buns?

Hope they can make it more like a Japanese 7-11 . I hear japanese 7-11's are great.

    • Well for one they sell alcohol in Japanese 7-11s. So yeah they are pretty good.

They have beer vending machines in Japan. Japan is just better overall.

        • Germany too. My hotel in Berlin had a vending machine on each floor of the hotel near the lift, and it had alcohol in it. No proof of age required.

You need to add Thailand's 7-11 as wel to the list.

You get everything at 7-11 in Thailand.

        • I remember one night I did a full 711 raid in Thailand, $25 dollars worth of stuff and 2 basket full…. man if only I was that rich here in Australia.

    • Japanese convenience stores are great in general. They have a fried chicken bar!!! It doesn't get better than that.

  • Hopefully things don't change for the worse. The deals for members are not as good as they used to be in the past 1-2 years.

    • At this rate I only go there because it has high flow pumps whereas the other servos around me do not. Used to be some pretty good freebies

I would have held out for 7.11 billion. I do appreciate that they at least got the digits in there though.

  • EGG SAMMICHES!

  • The chopper is going global - long live the Chopper!

    • Yes, you should be able to lock fuel in another country. Is the price in Japan generally lower?

The other day I found a whipped cream sandwich in Lawson's. No fruit whatsoever it was so good. We need the fruit cream sando here.

  • Do you think 7-11 is actually losing money from the fuel lock hack? If they really wanted to stop the hack, wouldn't they stop sharing their fuel prices online so sites like https://refinery.fyi can't post them.

    • I know in QLD, servos are required to report their fuel prices within an hour of them being changed. That info is then scraped by places like PetrolSpy and Refinery.
