Ecopia is crap even if you buy 1 get 3 free.

    • Depends on which particular Ecopia tread. EP100 had a habit of hydroplaning in the wet

  • Lots of thread on these bad bois, but are they run flats?

    • Can confirm no

The thing about the Pirelli Powergy's that dominated the black friday sales is that their treadwear rating is so poor that they'll only last half as long as the Serenity Plus' and their performance will drop off a cliff even sooner since they only have ~6mm to play with in the first place..

    • I've ended up getting a set for my fathers car on the black Friday sales, he doesn't do much driving (less the 10,000km per year & I drive the car more then him). If they last for 3-4 years, I'm happy for the price I paid. Tyres start to degrade pass the 5-6 years mark & anything over 10 years shouldn't be on the road.

For the most part that's an old furphy. If tyres are cracked or the rubber has gone hard due to exposure or underinflation etc then you can easily tell.

        • If you look

          • @WhyAmICommenting: Looking doesn't change tyre degradation, which is generally VERY slow and takes FAR longer than the mythical 10 years. Even a cursory look when you inflate your tyres is (ought to be) good enough.

Hated my Serinity plus for the last 40k km. Wet performance dropped off a cliff after 30k km and the fuel efficiency was terrible the first 30km. On 75k km now. Ordered the pirelli p7c2, hope they are ready next week

  • Cheapest 225/55R18:

    Dayton H/T 100

$190/tyre including fitment and wheel balancing.

    • Dayton not part of the promotion as far as I can tell

Bob Jane has a few similar deals going atm - BS, Falken, Yoko, Goodyear
    https://www.bobjane.com.au/promo/promotions

As always, check the total fitted price and get a few quotes.

    • That the biggest things when buying tyres, specially if your buying them online.

i just got win run cheap chinese but they do the trick, as i am not a sports car driver and don't speed or do crazy corners in my subaru.

    • +1

I agree with yum cha tyres. With crappy roads no use have premium tyres

until you need to take evasive action and you will wish you had $3000 hypercar tyres

        • Nice idea but my car would not able to make full use of the super duper tyres

I bought some cheap Chinese Triangle brand one year…they had no wet grip from the get go. Used to be able to spin all four wheels in the wet on my old Subaru.

    • I have a set of Winruns on my sisters cars. Not the best tyres sure, but not too bad for the price (one of the better cheap Chinese tyres). Sometime the traction control come on when you plant it but apart from that wet weather grip is fine.

  • I guess Dueler A/T 697 is not eligible?

    • That's a regular BS 4 for 3 deal if you can wait but the Falken Wildpeak is a far better tyre overall and is on a 4 for 3 deal right now.

      • Thanks! Better how please?

        • The Falken? It's in my Bob Jane link above. The BS AT 697 4 for 3 deal happens at least twice a year.
Direct link to the Wildpeak: https://www.bobjane.com.au/promo/falken-buy-3-get-1-free-12-…
You should still ring around, there may be better prices available - Tempe Tyres in Sydney for example.

As I wrote in another tyre deal, ask dealers for the tyre manufacture date when you get quotes.

You might like to get a price on a wheel alignment - always advisable when getting new tyres. Some Ozbargainer was surprised it wasn't free when he fronted up to pay - as balancing, fit and disposal are (not really, they're factored into the tyre price). He was also charged over the odds. Should be no more than about $70, possibly less depending on your vehicle.

          • @Igaf: Thats great info, thanks, but I was actually asking why Falken Wildpeak is better quality than 697s. Curious because I find 697 a great tyres.

Falken Wildpeak is a far better tyre overall

            • @[Deactivated]: Ah, okay. WP has better ratings pretty much across the board (wear, traction in wet and dry) and are cheaper (in the sizes I've looked at). I'll find the tirerack (USA) test and links to user ratings and post later.

The 697, which I've had twice previously (they were much cheaper then) are fair all rounders and are not prone to punctures like some others. They are sus in the wet and tread life is (usually) not as good as other 4WD ATs. Might be better on lighter vehicles?

  • Turanza 6, is what we're waiting for.

  • Of course the serenity plus is on sale now when I already bought the potenzas.

    • -1

Serinity plus are no good. At least you've got some decent tyres

      • Really? I thought the Serenity Plus were good and long lasting…

        • Long lasting but not good. Fuel intensive at first, then no wet grip after 20k km. Mu tyre went defective at around 40k

          • +1

@Rakibul: That’s probably more your driving style than the tyres themselves

          • +1

@Rakibul: I've had Serenity Plus tyres on my car for years and they are the best tyre I have ever owned. Didn't notice any extra fuel consumption when new or bad grip in the wet, but I don't drive like I'm trying to win the grand prix. What do you recommend for the price that will last as long?

            • @Springfield: This is an all season tyre. Any all season tyre will last this long as they are very hard compound: https://www.tire-reviews.com/Tyre-Tests/Results-Grid/2023-Ty…

            • @Springfield: If you simply want $/km then go for winrun. Serinity plus are just mediocre tyres. Get Serinity T005 if you want good tyres and those are almost never sold at a discount

              • @Rakibul: As mentioned, it's more your driving that's mediocre. My Serenity Plus easily exceeded 50K km and would have gone longer had the car not been written off.

                • @kerfuffle: Do some research online and read what other reviews

                  • @Rakibul: The same can be said for you. On this site, you're the only one who's said negative things about them. So perhaps it's a you problem rather than a them problem. I'd happily buy them again when it comes to replacing the stock tyres on my current car.
