AmEx $200 Travel Credit Not Showing up?

Hello OzBargainers,
I've recently signed up for an AMEX Platinum Edge Credit Card last week and it has arrived on Friday and I configured my account and all is well. However the $200 Travel Credit that I was told would apply instantly has not. I'm attempting to book some flights to Melbourne where I've already booked accomodation for me and my partner for Valentines Day week. I called AMEX Platinum Card Services and they advised me that it would take unto a month to appear on my account. How long has it usually taken to arrive for you all?
Thanks,
Elisa

Usually within a week it shows up.

On the day they charged your Annual Fee, it will be avaialble.

      • okay, it’s no annual fee for the first year so i’m hoping it shows up this week… anxious flights will increase in cost!

          I see…lucky you. I think my annual fee is $1500. :(

          • @bobokingdom: You’re thinking of the wrong Platinum card.

            • @omguleh: Oh yes, the Platinum (non Edge) Card.

              • @bobokingdom: yeah, the poor mans platinum :p hoping to get a platinum in the future though, just thought i'd start small for my first cc.

@vaporwave: I wouldn't say "poor mans platinum" Edge card is good value, $200 annual fee, you get $200 travel credit, 3 points per dollar spent @ supermarkets / gas station (1.5 miles / dollar conversion rate), and random cash back from random retailers. I only keep the Platinum Card because I got it many year ago and they still give back $850 worth of travel credit per year + Accor Plus membership + Virgin lounge access + some dining credits…and that's basically cover the annual fee. If you travel a lot, AE platinum is a pretty good card in Australia.

Disclaimer: I don't work for AMEX, just a card owner.
