Robo Vacuum & Mop Recommendations - Tiled / Laminate Floor

Seeking guidance from the robovacuum masses about the best options out there today for the following use case. We are looking to buy something that will service downstairs across a kitchen / diner and into a ,lounge space as well. The kitche diner is tiled, the lounge area is laminate.

We have two small dogs, one is a Cairn Terrier which loses some hair but not a massive amount, the other is a Spoodle which loses no hair. What we are aiming for is a unit that does both standard vacuum type work plus mopping as well. The mopping is really only required on the tiled area. A unit that you can zone for specific functions would work well in this case.

The ideal would be a unit that doesn't require a lot of love whilst it goes about it's business. I don't know much about robot vacuums but I believe some have functionality that allows a return to home to empty itself, as well as the ability to self water when it comes to mopping the tiled area.

I am sure some of these "features" that the manufacturers call out, could be gimmicks and therefore useless. Then again maybe they aren't……hence asking the trusted OzB community for real world experience.

Based on what I have read, I think ecovac or roborock are the models of choice but any info would be welcomed.

Cheers

  • I suggest cordless handheld vacuum.

    • Thanks….I will look for a manual mop as well then. Not quite the solution to the post but appreciate you taking the time to reply.

roborock qrevo or s8 pro ultra if you tend to leave lots of stuff on the floor.

Using a Roborock S5 for the last ~3 years!! It's a great buy. The first year was a frustrating bit of learning to create zones on your app, and sometimes lost the configured map (with zones) when the firmware was upgraded. However the moping does not remove hard stains on the floor like dryed-up coffee or juice, you'll need to scrub it yourself before the run. For the corners you'll still need a stick vacume that you can run through once a month or so!

I had the Ecovac's N8 (paid $400) for a year from a deal on here, I was happy with it so recently upgraded to the newer N10 ($340 with member discounts and cashback). It's just an entry level model but will vac and mop.

Once you have it setup there is no need to do anything other than empty it, or you can upgrade to the auto empty dock model. No auto fill water for that price but they do have them if you want to pay for it.

  • It looks like the Q Revo is a great option. Understand that the obstacle avoidance isn't the greatest but we have two pretty open rooms where it will be used and we don't generally tend to have stuff strewn everywhere.

For the price, the features look to be awesome.

    Cheers all.

  • We have found this excellent
ECOVACS DEEBOT N8 Robot Vacuum Cleaner
    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B08YY4ZPNB?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_…
Currently on sale at 399. My partner thinks it is amazing.

    • How do you find the mopping performs? I like the price but prefer rotating head.

We haven't used the mopping function yet

  • I went with a cheap Viomi V2 from the BF sales couple of years back to see if a robovac does stand up to the hype. It's served us well, vacuuming every 2-3 days and mopping once a week. Still running strong, got a set of spare cleaning parts from AliExpress and running well. Mopping is basic, just like wiping the whole house with a small, wet cloth but serves good in an urgency.
