Apple Black Friday Promo Voucher Not Honoured

Black Friday promo AU, voucher not honoured?

After waiting for the Australian Black Friday promo, I saw that I could get $80 voucher per AirPod Pro 2G, which made the price of $399 a bit more palatable. I ordered two, only to find out it wasn’t honoured in the email and after waiting for them to be shipped, still nothing. After ringing them they say they can’t apply Black Friday promo after the fact! I ordered it on the education website, even though prices and indeed BF offers were the same.

Any advice out there? Thanks so much!

Are you sure the EDU store had the apple gift card promo? I remember checking a few items on the EDU and non-EDU websites (with the latter having gift card promot) during BF and things were cheaper on the non-EDU website after taking the GC into consideration. (I didn't buy anything because I'm poor and wanted more than 8Gb RAM so went to Lenovo instead :P)

  • Any advice out there?

Remember that one of the most common T&Cs for promos are that they're "not valid in conjunction with any other offer".

I hear you, but I didn’t end up with any discount in the end! Thanks though!

I don't generally by Apple things, but I think they've got that 14 or 30 day return period. You could make use of that.

I know, but then there won’t be any great deals before Christmas anymore now :(

I was pretty sure, but no screen shot unfortunately. I went between the 2 sites and there was definitely no difference in price. Why otherwise would I buy 2 items in the promo period, if there was no benefit? It’s a shame you can’t actually email Apple directly, I already tried live chat but was given the run around there too. I’m so disappointed, I could accept it if I’d received an EDU discount to start with, but no. Thanks so much for your reply, bdl!

Thanks, it seems it’s a lost cause. I do understand they don’t stack things, but not if prices were the same on both sites to start with…

      • Hey, look at the bright side:
        - You return them within the return period with no loss.
        - You now know to read the T&Cs.
        - You save money.
        - You get a greater discount next year when Gen 3 is released and you can get Gen 2 cheaper.

        ALL upsides.

    • Do you know if you can use Apple Gift cards bought at Coles on the Edu store?

      • +1

yeah you can. Load it up to your apple account and sign in to make the purchase on the edu store.

There were much better deals for airpods than then apple deal.

    • Thanks, if you’re aware of any still going now, let me know please :)

  • Hi there,

I just read the post. I was on the phone with Apple, jumping through hoops for about 2 hours and indeed, after spending almost $3500 on Black Friday with Apple they refused to negotiate by sending two $80 gift cards.

My issue was the same as yours - purchasing through the education store, it so happened that none of the items even qualified for the education discount.

I argued that the terms and conditions were not made clear or obvious to the consumer but they would not budge.

Today (08.01.24) is the last day to organise a full refund, so I've organised to have the entire $3500 order collected by a courier and refunded.
