Questions for Those Who Have Philips Hot & Cold Water Filter Station

I've been wanting to buy this Philips hot & cold water filter station but due to its price, I'm still hesitant to pull the trigger.

For those who have it at home:

  • How long have you been having it?
  • How often do you need to descale it?
  • Have you had any issue so far?
  • What's the noise level compared to electric kettle?
  • Do you still keep your electric kettle on the bench?

I want to know whether it's worth the investment or not. I also want to know whether it'll make my life easier or give me extra work (descaling etc).

Thank you in advance for taking your time to respond.

I just have the hot water one (too tight to get the hot and cold). However I would consider the one with the bubbly water as well.

I am heaps happy with it. The kettle had not seen the light of day in years. I keep it a s a backup in the drawer, in case.

The best thing is that it is reasonably quick and the worst is that sometimes for drawing over a litre of water, you can walk away and forget about it and then comeback to a mess (this only happened a couple of times). If you are drawing 4 litres or so, that can take some time.

Never had to descale it, water in Canberra is pretty soft, so I find nothing ever needs descaling. Have used it for a couple of years.

I had the older generation hot + cold. It have a timer when descaling time reached, it will not not work until you descale around 3 months.
Pretty much water is kept at 8 deg for chill mode but good enough 1.5 cups at a time. It does have some noise but not too loud, but an electricity sucker, so I turn off chill mode during winter.
For hot mode, not much noise just water dripping sound. Just beware if u change temperature when water is pouring, it will go into overheat mode for awhile before u can use again. There is also a safety lock for hot water mode. So prevent any babies/kids or cat from accidentally scalding themself.

My kettle never been out since I have this.

    • Thank you for your feedback. May I know how long have you been having this?
