Myer Online Refuse to Refund an Item That's out of Stock

I have ordered a bunch of items from MYER on Black Friday. Now it's day 10, all items are delivered besides one where they won't ship (presumably because it's out of stock).

Myer refuse to provide a refund as "their policy doesn't allow for cancellation in any circumstances". They also can't provide me with an estimated delivery/restock date.

What can I do now to get my money back? I don't think it's legal to not issue a refund when the item is not even available/exceeds reasonable delivery time?

Give it a bit longer or have you 'changed your mind' on wanting this item still?

What was it? How much are we talking?

What is the ETA the website is saying?

I had the opposite experience. Miracle of miracles they won a BF price shootout on a kitchen appliance, got a refund the next day when the sale was over saying they were out of stock. Who does that? Why would we use Myer again? They should change their web pages to read 'on sale for this price maybe'.

For your situation I would complain to management. They don't have a leg to stand on and any complaints department would know this..

  • I've had a similar bad customer service experience with them when purchased online with delivery, they made me jump through hoops to return an item that had different measurements to what was specified on their website, it was like communicating with a bot.

The Myer business model is not designed for online sales. They only do it in an attempt to remain competitive and relevant and fail in both areas.

At this point the Myer business model is designed as a nostalgic tax write off for Solly Lew. Goodness knows how Myer even still exists.

  • How much is the item worth?

Wait until OP realises their whole X% cashback is now in jeopardy, due to the $10 pair of socks they added in order to get free shipping actually being out of stock.

  • Chargeback.

    • Have no idea why this was downvoted. OP should go through the reasonable steps of asking Myer and, failing that, go for a charge back via bank with email correspondence as evidence.

That's what chargebacks are there for.

  • wait til the cashback is approved (if it does) then ask for a refund or do a chargeback

  • This happend to me, let them send it, probaby take month or so, if you dont like it, you can return it easy no harm done.
