Prices are good, but service is terrible. My last 3 flights MEL-SYD were rescheduled and once i had to buy ticket for another airline. It was very generous for Virgin to reschedule my 5am morning flight for one day trip to Sydney to 5pm

    • +3

      weird because Virgin don't run a 5am service…

      • It was the earliest Virgin flight from Melb to Syd booked via Flight Centre. Could be 5am smth, i just remember that it was nice to receive at 4-30am an sms message saying that flight is rescheduled to 5pm with my meeting in Sydney at 10am.

  • I personally don't use Virgin airlines. Have had them cancel on me a few times.

  • No thanks. The prices maybe be good but they cancel flights last minute without warning and leaving ppl stranded. Cost heaps in ppl cancel accommodations, holidays or rebook alt flights last minute etc. Bewary, I would read some reviews out there. It was good of Virgin to cancel my Per-Bris while I was checking in and try to rebook me 2 days later on a flight later than my return flight. So had to cancel whole trip.

  • Who's worse, Jetstar or Virgin?

    • +1

      Toss a coin.

    • -1

Worst being Jetstar then Qantas then virgin with Rex being most reliable

      • Atm virgins worse than QF mainline (although statistics don't quite say that). Mainly because Qantas' ability to recover with their fleet is much greater than Virgin's.

Virgin is also spiralling fast with lots of issues with cabin crew negotiations. Strikes are imminent if they don't reach an agreement soon.

        • Qantas recorded the highest percentage of cancellations at 4.3 per cent during the month, followed by Jetstar and Virgin Australia at 4.1 per cent,

But all in all they are pretty similar. Cancellations on time etc are all pretty similat

    • Statistically, Virgin

  • Excellent timing. My wife needed to go down to Sydney during the first quarter of next year. Coupled with my Virgin Flyer credit card flight credit, this should be a pretty cheap return flight.

    • My flight credit expires 31st December (book AND use). Just making sure you are aware of your dates.
