Dell S3422DWG with Ergotron HX

Hey all

I’ve got a Dell S3422DWG on the way from work, and need to get a suitable arm. I will very likely upgrade down the track, so want a monitor arm that can follow me.

I’ve seen praise for the Ergotron HX, but when checking compatibility the Ergotron website says “Sorry, your display may not be compatible with this product.”

Can anyone verify this? If it is indeed incompatible, what is the next best choice?

Thank you

Sounds creepy, like some new movie from A24

    • Don't steal my ideas, mate, or I'll sue!

The Dell S3422DWG monitor is too light for the Ergotron HX, rated from 9.1kg and upwards.

You are better off getting the Ergotron LX or the Amazon Basic Single Monitor Arm, a rebranded Ergotron LX.

Whichever one is cheaper or easier for you to purchase.

    • Ahhhhh. Perfect. Thanks

    • To chime in on this, I own an HX and some LXs/AmazonBasics. The HX is awesome (except for the terrible tilt lock implementation), but should only be used in cases where it is needed, even if your display is technically supported. It is substantially more difficult to reposition and less mobile than the LX, out of necessity to hold such heavy displays. The LX and AmazonBasics clone would be my go-to for anything under 49" 32:9 or 42" 16:9 displays (OLED tv, etc). You can put a 38" 21:9 on an LX no problem if it's within the weight limit despite Ergotron's recommendation of a 34" max, from what I have read.

Ive been using the Dell MSA20 for my Dell 32" monitor which has been working well (its rated for up to 38 inch monitors)

    • Thank you

  • Sorry for jumping in. Recently grabbed one of these are noted in the manual "NOTE: For use only with UL or CSA or GS-listed wall mount bracket with minimum weight/load bearing capacity of 30.84 kg". Is that the bearing load for the wall or the unit itself ? Seems quite excessive ? I may just go with what was recommended above. Thanks.
