Two of the Five Eyes, Russia, China, Germany, France, Japan. The remaining 3 eyes for footwork.

Good price for something you'll never play.

Awful price for something you'll never play haha. You're literally getting nothing for something. The definition of being conned!

It's a 5h game according to bgg, so I'm not buying it because I know I'll never play it.

      • +7

5h is very optimistic. You really need to set aside a whole day. Maybe even a weekend.

        • Agreed. And prepare for your friends to lie to your face and backstab you, taking you out of the game after 12 hours of play.

$12.95 postage fee, please update title OP @lilyesp

Heard from a few friends it can take more than a day and its pretty tedious. You may play one time and that's about it

    • +8

Probably won't be friends after the board game

      • Agree. Used to play all-night games with a group of guys - had to change some people each time cause ended up never talking again. There's an old DOS game out there worth getting to learn the craft (rule book for DOS game better too)

I was gifted the board game version once and never played it.

I've played countless hours of GamesByEmail's clone of Diplomacy called Politics though. You can find it at http://gamesbyemail.com/Games/Politics. The most painful part of Diplomacy is the the turn resolution, and this automates it all leaving the fun negotiating (and backstabbing) parts.

Secret Hitler is probably more fun.

Good price. Great training exercise, but awful game. Probably the most backstabby game in existence and highly likely to make you lose multiple friends.

Could probably be reported for inaccurate description “Fun board game” - Diplomacy is not fun, it’s a ten hour commitment that ruins friendships and makes you realise how awful people are. Still, at least it’s not Monopoly.

    • Sometimes it's good to know how awful people are.

Diplomacy is an amazing board game design featuring zero luck, deterministic play (which, unfortunely, are the perfect conditions for significant AP). I recommend playing it online. I stole the following from a Reddit post which provide a roundup of all the available sites.

The longest Diplomacy game ever lasted over three years: https://www.reddit.com/r/boardgames/comments/45inrc/the_long….

Do you already have a group of players, and you're just looking for a place to play?
Then I would recommend https://www.backstabbr.com/, as it's probably the easiest and cleanest overall experience.

Are you looking for a site that has its own active community of users?
Then the most active sites are https://www.playdiplomacy.com/ and https://webdiplomacy.net/.

Do you wish to play using an Android app?
    That would be https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.badfrog.co….

Are you looking for a free site where you can play lots of different variants?
    That would be https://www.vdiplomacy.com/index.php.

Would you like to play with more advanced rules variants, and you're willing to pay a modest annual fee?
    https://www.playdiplomacy.com/.

    • 3 years omg that's insanity/autism.

      • autism.

        Wut?

"Fun game" lol NO. I had a physical copy, I organised games twice with a group of friends. We are still friends, but neither game actually ended in time. It is a pretty amazing experience, but I Think what makes it so intense and painful is that the skills that determine your success or failure in the game are really life skills. So when you do badly at Diplomacy - people manipulate or betray you - it really makes you feel like a bit of a failure as a person. Not recommended for the thin-skinned.
