Superloop - Experience with Business Support

Our business currently has an AussieBB business account with 100/40. We've been looking at upgrading the speed but unfortunately Aussie don't offer the 1000/50 as a business connection so we'll have to change it to a residential connection and pay for our static IP.

Our other option is Superloop Totalbiz at about $10/mth less than the Aussie residential connection plus IP. I have Superloop at home and whilst I think they're decent I think on the whole AussieBB is better for residential support. The only positive with SL is that I generally get through to a support rep quicker than ABB whose queues are often quite long now.

Does anyone have experience with SL business support? The advise we have our own account manager and for support:

Australia-based support in under 5 minutes
Jump to the front of the queue with priority status and talk to our Australia-based support team within five minutes guaranteed (or you could get a $10 credit).

But is it actually any better than their normal support?

  • Aussie don't offer the 1000/50 as a business connection so we'll have to change it to a residential connection and pay for our static IP.

And this is a problem how? If it is FTTP, the reliability is likely to be the same.

It is my understanding 100/40 is an old NBN Residential Plan anyway, it was changed to 100/20 primarily but I think Aussie still offered it as a "business" plan with a static IP.

Not sure where you are located, but do you think the upload is sufficient? It might be worth looking at TPG and see if you can get dedicated fibre, it is a bit of a cost, but well worth it. I got my previous work place 400/400 and it was fantastic. This was in Hawthorn VIC 3822.

    • Yes not the NBN side of things (re support), more if something does go wrong. And it does. ABB has been 8/10 to deal with. So far my experience with SL would put their residential support at 6-7/10. I'm wondering if their business account support is better (for when and if something goes wrong).

40 up has been fine. We need more down as we copy a lot of data from other sites.

TPG Fibre250 would be the next level up and it's substantially more than 1000/50. We're resellers so get an excellent price (and the product itself is excellent) but not required at this stage.

  • why do you need a static ip? whats wrong with DDNS off the router?

    • Business account. SMTP etc. You can't setup an MX record with DDNS. And we actually need 2 IP's as well. It's only $5/mth so not a biggie.

      • aaah okiedokie. i understand now.
