Anyone Used Wemakeadifference? 5% off Coles Vouchers, Able to Re-Charge, What's The Catch?

I was told it costs $60/yr for a membership level that allows you to buy Coles (and others) gift cards at 5% off face value..

Personally I can't find this membership cost listed on the public website, but my contact has possibly looked into it further and registered or heard from someone else.

Nothing turned up searching OzBargain.

Does anyone here on the forums have any experience using this website?

maybe this is why i will never be wealthy like 99.9% of whirlpool and r/ausfinance users but 5%? really? man even 10% off id still be meh about stuffing around with a platform with no real feedback.

    • It seems like a bit of mucking around to me too, but I'm being asked to join.. if I topped it up with $500 from time to time, then it's just a matter of scanning this card as opposed to using my credit card. I get pretty good CC rewards, but not 5%.

but I'm being asked to join.

        by who? bikies with guns?

if I topped it up with $500 from time to time

i guess if you're okay with $500 tied up with a company with little feedback?
idk up to you man but i wouldnt risk a potential $25 saving and faffing around .
        save money elsewere imo.

        • I would assume it's tied up in the Coles gift card backed by Coles. And only passes through this random little company for the length of the transaction.

But you are right, that's another 5.1% interest not being earned, on top of the faffing around, etc..

It's a membership scheme targeted at organisations to get their followers/members to sign up in return for a portion of the subscription fee as a donation. Presumably whatever club they're involved with is therefore suggesting they join.

It's a gift card, the only time money is "tied up" is the time (presumably matter of seconds) between the purchase and the deliverance of the gift card.

I'll also never understand the people who can spend hours of their time on here, not doing much, that can't spare 2 minutes to save "only 5%" of their grocery bill etc. My life would need to be significantly more exciting than it currently is for me to think spending 2 minutes buying the card is some kind of major obstacle to overcome. I certainly wouldn't be here right now if that was the case!

          • @callum9999: I agree if it's a genuine 5%, it's 5% in your pocket and adds up over a year on what is an essential purchase of 10k+/year. It's whether it's really 5 or closer to 1.5-2 after fees and faffing. Peeps are on OzB for less than saving $500!

In 1999 we used to get something like 10% off our Coles groceries just for being a CML shareholder holding about $3000 worth of shares.. still have that packet of shares and worth a lot more today (new companies, splits, capital returns, dividends, etc.. but still). Ahh those were the days!

    Hi,
It looks like a Membership Based Scheme.

    https://www.wemakeadifference.com.au/get-started
says $124 per year for Gold Membership with $24 going to your nominated Charity.

  • Thanks, I hadn't clicked that. Not sure if each member also has to pay $12/month to use it?
