Hey everyone!! Free DLC.

As of November 19, God of War Ragnarök has sold through more than 15 million units worldwide across PS4 and PS5.

To show our appreciation for the incredible support and love you’ve given the game since its release last year, our team has been working on a surprise for the God of War community.

As fans of our fans, we’re thrilled to announce that on December 12*, we’ll be releasing a free DLC as a gift to our players – God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla.

    imagine Sony's best selling IP just giving away free DLC. could have easily charged $19 and it wouldn't sold a million units in a week.

    a lot of other studious would never do this.

      finished it all over december and i really think calling & marketing it as "free" DLC is a bit of a stretch… it's the post-game ragnarok should have had from the beginning, like the random maze battles of niflheim in gow2018… cause i conquered ragnarok and was presented with muspelheim post which was a complete snooze and promptly never touched it after completing it cause it offered nothing.. a huge shame as the end is just as the triple wep combat gets out of second gear.

      granted, its more polished than niflheim and a well featured rogue-lite, dragging out a bit more of the characters journey - but its still just post-game, of a tripleA title they kinda milked over several years.

        I ask because there is some dlc where you don't need the base game.

        COD being an example (I think).

          Warzone isn't really DLC, it's basically a standalone game. But I get your point. 99% of the time DLC requires the base game (particularly if it's free!).

      It claims to be standalone. But it warns of spoilers. So really this is a clever marketing campaign to sell the base game.

    Looks like it’s a trials based dlc, similar to the Sisyphus tower in Returnal. Another PS5 exclusive that gave free DLC.
