Bose QuietComfort 45 SE $249 + Delivery ($0 C&C/in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

Bose QuietComfort 45 SE @ JBHiFi for $249. From what I’ve read the only difference between these and the normal QuietComfort 45 is the case so decent deal if someone can do without a hard case.

These are brilliant but don’t handle wind noise well.
    Very happy with the purchase

They are very nice headphones. Bought a pair for my wife. I would absolutley not recommend them though, especially on a bargain-oriented website.

The ear pads wear out after 1-2 years. The fine stitching on the fabric that covers the foam is just not up to the task. They are not replaced under warranty, you have to buy new ones and install them. You can get unbranded ones that fit for $10-20 on amazon but they're a bit more firm and some people report they don't maintain the noise cancellation as well. The genuine ones are $40/pair. They are making a tidy profit from that.

It's not normal to have the ear pads go to pieces that quickly. I've had them fail on other headphones… after 5-10 years, but in less than 2? That's bad enough, but then to go and price gouge on the replacement instead of improving the product? Pretty bad. You're basically paying for an ear pad subscription service when there's that kind of ongoing cost.

Someone will chip in an anecdote about how their ear pads have lasted 350,000 years despite walking uphill both ways every day. Great, good for you. But it's a very common failure point with loads of forum posts discussing it, and that cost is ridiculous.

I recommend Sennheiser instead. Lovely sound, good build quality and excellent ANC.

    • The Sennheiser Momentum 4 are usually $400 on sale, double the cost of these headphones. How many sets of ear pads can you buy with $200?

      • I've never tried the Momentum 4. I recommend the Sennheiser BT450, which are $200. Ear pads A+. Sound A++.

I'm amazed there's so many Bose fanboys loading the negs on here. If anyone wants to parlay that loyalty into funding my wife's next set of ear pads, feel free to shoot me $40.

        • BT450 is good for music, no different to Bose when coms to pop song, but mic and ANC are terrible. have one since 2018, replace earpad 2 times, cost $5 to replace, still going.

In general, BT450 is not the same level of Bose QCSE/45. Bose is good for movies and gaming. good comfy headset for travelling.

Hello, I know you are getting negged but thank you for the well articulated comment. Some valid points you have! I personably still recommend Bose, the ear pads do wear out quickly but you can get cheapo AliExpress replacements every year or two for like $6 and they feel fine. The Bose are so comfy which is my favourite thing about them - in fact I fall asleep in them every night!

  • Brilliant upgrade to the QC35's. In the middle had tried the 700's but these are much better.

  • Are they a small fit? I have a big head. Haha.

  • Does anyone feel heat buildup and sweaty ears after 10-15 mins of use

  • Down to $245 at JB
