So many lazy people here that want everyone else to do the work for them…OMG!

      Just Google "home insurance compare"
It will bring up several insurance comparison web sites.
      Take your pick.
      I recommend "Compare the market:
      https://www.comparethemarket.com.au/

Its by far the best way to get your answer

      There you go. Job done
Now you dont have to read all the other posts

Thats what you would have done Muzeeb. Right?

  • It's in act Canberra.

Muzeeb will need your full address. Also, pm them photos of your house (each room) and your possessions.
That will help with getting an accurate quote.

Mr Muzeeb will also need to know your security details to give you an accurate quote, including alarm codes, spare key hiding spots, situation with locks on windows, etc.

      • Haha sure I will including all of my accounts passwords.

Also let Mr Muzeeb know what you are wearing to improve the accuracy of the quote.

      • I'm still waiting for this video.

        • You are so popular today Muzeeb!

If you own the home then get Home and contents insurance with the same company.

    • Same company as what?

    • I checked with them it seems to be quite expensive.

  • I’m going to say.. umm.. AAMI

  • Actually it was supposed to be a serious question.

  • If you want a lower premium consider maxing out your excesses for both building and contents.

I have used Australian Seniors for the last few years, best price every time I've checked. Being a senior is not required.

    • Thanks I will have a look. How are they if we need make a claim

      • I can't say as I've never had to. It's underwritten by Hollard.

I've recently compared a few for contents alone (in an apartment) and have found youi quite comparable - this is in regional NSW so it could be completely different for you, but worth a look!

    • Thanks

I really hate YOUI selling model. They make you put in a Ph. No for a quote and then ring and put the hard sell on.

      • I put in my number (they already had it from previous car insurance so I have zero security concerns) and got the quote immediately, without a phone call.
And I haven't received any follow-up sales call about it either, just a reminder email.

Maybe they've changed the way they do it due to this sort of complaint.

Interesting that my comment has 2 downvotes, wonder if it's relating to this same complaint?

  • My home & Contents insurance has been with NRMA for years but this year the premium went up nearly
$500 so I have switched to Youi

  • My home & Contents insurance was due also this month. Suncorp raised price by $550.
searched using https://www.comparethemarket.com.au/ and found BOQ to be 15% cheaper than Suncorp.

  • I do all my insurance, House, contents, motor vehicle through a broker. The company surveys the various insurance companies and recommends the best one(s) to suit my needs annually. Not just price, but also reliability, inclusions and exclusions and other factors as necessary.
if I have a claim I lodge it through the broker and there is far less hassle than going through the Head Office of the insurance company.
