Question on Mobile Plans

Have a family member coming from overseas and staying with us for 6months.

I am thinking to get one of the 28days or 30days plan like below:

Boost Mobile: $16 Cashback on $12 50GB 28-Day SIM ($4 Profit) @ Cashrewards new
Lebara 30-Day Prepaid Mobile Sim 4GB $4/ 35GB $9 (Double Data if Activated by 26th March) @ Woolworths (in Store Only)
Lebara 30-Day Prepaid Mobile SIM Starter Pack: 25GB $6 (Was $24.90) @ Coles (in Store)

As they will be inside home, mostly using home Wi-Fi, I am wondering which provider allows to keep the mobile number active for longer time after the initial recharge of 28days/30days is over and if we don't recharge it? Also, will they be still able to use the same mobile to at least receive the calls/text for remaining 5 months?

Thanks.

Get an Aldi $5 sim. https://www.aldimobile.com.au/collections/payg

Get Amaysim $12 starter pack and within 28-days just before it expires, change the plan to the 365-day pay as you go plan.

Aldi's used to be cheap but think they have changed the price,
    * $5 for 60 days
    * PAYG top ups last 365 days (cheapest top up is $15)

    Cheers

  • sims will remain active (receive sms and calls) for 6 months after the most recent recharge so these options will work

Will they not want mobile data at all for 5 months? It's a pretty useful feature.
Consider buying two $20 90 day sims. You can activate one now and then activate the second in 3 months.

  • Anyone at your place a CBA customer? They're doing 3-months free on mobile plan fees until 29-Feb.

  • The ozb way is to buy at least 1 profit boost before they come, activate it just before/on the day they arrive, rinse repeat every month until they leave…

I've been sim-slutting between boost/lebara for both my number as well as my wife's.

but I wouldn't do it to a visiting family member, letting them changing a sim every other month might make them think you are struggle with your finance etc.

90 day hop looks much less troublesome.

      • Just tell them that's how recharges work in Australia.

  • tangerine are offering 2 months free sim on telstra wholesale network. esim or physical
