Spalding 48" Baller Basketball Hoop $349 (Free Membership Required, Was $499) + Delivery (Free C&C) @ Rebel

170

Have been looking to purchase a new basketball system as my previous ring of six years has since corroded.

Was monitoring this basketball ring over the past week after seeing it advertised on their catalogue for $399 (members price).
https://www.rebelsport.com.au/catalogue?c=rebel-sport-is-a-g…

Upon checking today, I have noticed that the price for members has reduced another $50 to $349, for which I've since made the purchase!

Unfortunately it does not constitute of free delivery and thus click and collect is recommended, otherwise delivery is $100 (depending on location).

This system is featured on their website as a top gift idea and is highly recommended from their staff as a good all-round basketball system.

Great for a Christmas gift or for your regular hooper!

Legend, we've had one for nearly 2 years and the backboard has started to crack and shatter in several places so this is perfect timing

I had the same problem. The backboard is covered under warranty and I just received a replacement from the supplier.

      Warranty info and claim form

Make sure the whole system is assembled by competent adults ONLY. Do not let children, teenagers or other incompetent people help with the assembly.
When you screw the large plastic cap onto the back of the base make sure not to ruin the thread and make sure you do it up tight.
If this thing falls over forwards like mine did this morning and someone is standing there THEY WILL PROBABLY BE KILLED. It is very heavy.

FYI We have just moved house and my son screwed the cap back on here at the new house yesterday (yes I know I am stupid) and we refilled it with water. Now the water has leaked out. At the last house we had no problems but it has always felt dodgy knowing it will fall down if there is a water leak. Other than that it seems to be a good basketball ring.

I am going to fill mine with cement EDIT: (or sand) now for peace of mind.

Sorry to sound like a party pooper. I just want you all to be aware of the risks and have a happy and safe Christmas and New Year.

      Thanks.. purchased for my wife..

      • She like playing with balls?

        • Yeah, not for long..

  • This vs anything cheaper for use by younger kids (age 7)?

    $249 member price
Actually found this at $149 - not much more than Kmart:

Or just a Kmart brand $89 one and then upgrade if they ever decide they like playing with it and not just use it as a garden ornament?

    • Get the lifetime MVP 44 at 249 its a very good price, i bought the same less than 2 weeks ago for 299 and yesterday went and got the price differences as a refund as they discounted within 2 weeks.

MVP 44 can be adjusted between 8 to 10 , under 8s already plat at 8.1FT high hoop. other two must have lower max height.

  • Can anyone comment on the build quality? Just read some mixed reviews. Cheers

    • Set it up yesterday and got some shots up. No issues with the build quality as it's quite sturdy. The adjustment lever works quite well thus useful for all ages. Took over an hour to put together. Personal preference however will be replacing the net with a chain.
