PayWave/PayPass Merchants for ING Wave and Save Promo

Would people be able to list some merchants they have found a PayWave/PayPass terminal so people know where they can get 5% cash back on the ING Wave and Save Promo?

Specific stores would be useful too, as not all franchised chains have the same eftpos terminals in all stores e.g. Woolworths Petrol at Bowen Hills in Brisbane doesn't have a terminal, even though the chain is listed on the Visa website as PayWave accepting.

Also feel free to use this thread to posts requests for specific merchants, hopefully the power of OzBargain can find everyone the merchant they need!

I'll kick it off with Clive Anthonys Appliances Only at the Mt Gravatt Homemaker Centre (Brisbane, QLD) allowed me to purchase gift cards using PayWave and then purchase an air-conditioner with the gift cards. This actually worked out cheaper than the price that I had negotiated for the item, and the staff were really helpful in allowing me to purchase this way to save. The staff even split the gift cards amongst themselves in the register to share the sale. They warned that not every store in the chain has PayWave, so check first before committing to purchase.

    • There was some discussion around the time constraint on making second purchase. Did that happen?

      • We thought of that, so made the gift cards different amounts. Seemed to go through fine.

    • I wonder if ING knew what it was getting itself into when it started this promotion.

    • That only seems 11/10 dodgy.

  • I used mine at the Woolworths/Caltex servo here on Windsor Road in Kellyville Ridge, NSW - no issue with PayWave.

Also keep in mind that you can always purchase gift cards for other retailers from Coles and Woolworths. AFAIK Coles stocks Myer group gift cards, Toys r us, Rebel, Hoyts, Village Cinemas and probably a few others.
To OP for woolworths group you can always buy Wish gift cards from Woolworths, this way you can use it at Big W as well as other group stores.

    • Can you buy target gift cards at coles?

      • You can, just pick a birthday gift card at Coles and you can redeem it at Coles group, including Target and Myer. I bought one this morning.

        • oh, happy birthday then!!

  • Justdigi list is not all valid

It depends on the store. Hornsby coles is not working

    • Yep, that's why I wanted to create this thread, as I've been to a few stores on the list and they don't have PayWave.

Was wondering if it's just Queensland being slow to roll them out, but you're in NSW…

it worked on my Go card recharge at 7-11. I also made purchase at officeworks.

I hadn't thought about using it to recharge Go Cards - great idea.

      • me too, good idea +1

    • This seems ripe for abuse(READ PROFIT) as you can transfer funds back from go card to an associated account… = free money…

  • woolworths & coles stores around my suburb in brisbane all terminals which support contactless visa/mastercard transactions

    • Which suburb?

  • Was at big-w today and there was no pay wave terminals, both self serve and normal checkouts, garden city brisbane

    • And k-mart sunnybank has paywave

    • I bought $90 WISH card from Woolworths with my ING card and use that to purchase stuff at Big W. I am in Garden city too

    • was at bigw 3 times this week. tried to use paywave the first time at the photo counter and had an old terminal, so that didn't work.

today used the self serve checkout and the terminal was a verifone with both paywave and paypass.

Can someone confirm that Australian post accept pay wave? Would be sweet when they sell certain gift cards for 20% off plus the ING 5% on top

    • George Street and City East post offices in Brisbane don't have PayWave, and the customer service officer said that she believes all company owned post shops have the same terminals. She said franchised stores may be different.

If we can find a aussie post that accepts pay wave…… 5% off our bills?

      • Only if that particular company accepts credit cards as payment for bills, they don't all.

    • I have been to 4 Aus Post in the Eastern suburbs of SA, they all don't have pay wave. They recently got new Eftpos machines but not pay wave unfortunately, they are all franchise stores apart from 1.

  • You know what would be good, if Westfield customer service accepted PayWave. Then you could get a gift card that works at "6000 stores" (according to the promo material). Could anyone confirm?

    • Or via Australian post if they accept paywave, Australian post sells Westfield

    • westfield giftcard has a $6+ fee. not worth it even you can get the 5% off.

  • I have used at Chemist warehouse parra & Coles express parramatta road successfully

I've added all the places mentioned so far (when a suburb is included) to the map:

    http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF&msa=0&msid=20355836938…

If anyone wants to help its very easy after I give you access you just click on the place in google maps and hit add to map paywave / paypass.

    • Thanks for that I also used this feature at Officeworks Virginia QLD

      • I've added Officeworks Virginia QLD. I have set the map so anyone who has the link can add markers.

  • Freedom Fuels Wooloowin
    Shaw Road, Wooloowin QLD 4030

I find they are often the cheapest fuel around the area, also 4c discount when you buy over 40 litres of fuel.

  • I just used it at costco Auburn. Haven't confirmed rebate yet but it pay waved ok. The machines don't show the symbol but it worked.

    • If you tap/wave, and the card isn't swiped or inserted in anything, it's a paywave! (Either that, or you got a free lot of groceries.)

    • That's a great website. Thanks

    • sorry may be i am doing something wrong but the website is not giving the list of Aussie stores..was the link for the store list or just normal info?

      • Directly under the image of the woman and girl with shopping trolley is a drop down box that allows you to select your country. You can then search for all, or a particular store that accepts paypass/paywave.

        • Thanks..

sorry I am not sure how i missed it!!

        • There is a ios/andriod app version of this

        • What app is this?

  • I'm pretty sure for 90% of my in-store purchases, I use PayPass…I'm surprised to read that it isn't that widespread?

  • The best thing so far is 5% off petrol. :)

  • From Sydney so far:
    - Starbucks - The terminals don't have the symbol and look like regular credit card terminals, but there is an option to "tap here" on the screen when paying.
    - Adriano Zumba's pattiserie at the Star - min spend $10 for credit (http://adrianozumbo.com/the-star-pyrmont/)
    - Pyrmont Point Hotel (the kitchen anyway) - http://www.pyrmontpoint.com.au/ (there's an entertainment book voucher for this one!)

  • Keep in mind that new "Verifone" colour screen terminals have paywave built in without signage necessarily. (Many Woolworths have them now)

  • All CHEAP AS CHIPS in SA have pay wave, assume it's the same in other states.
I have also seen pay wave at MITRE 10 Glynde SA

  • pablo and rustys cafe epping, nsw

  • Any computer stores using PayWave? MSY do not… Really good way to save a LOT on a new PC

    • hard to find good parts for under $100 tho…

      • don't bother with computer stores, dont most of them charge large credit card surcharges?

    • MSY has PayWave, but they charge a 2% surcharge on card, so technically there's some savings in there to be made.
I saved a few bucks on my mobo, ram, case, CPU Cooler and SSD :)

  • Are there any Myer stores that have pay wave?

    • I haven't seen any, but you could buy Coles group (inc. Myer) gift cards from Coles using PayWave.

      • Nah, I am thinking to combine this with the once-in-a-while Myer gift card promotion $10 bonus for every $100.

        • that gift card promotion is on till 25th nov.

        • not sure if you can combine myer promotion with this one..coz for myer you have to get $100 voucher and for ing cash back it has to be $99.99 max !!! just my thought

        • Doesn't matter, you can tell the cashier to pay $99.95 with the card and then you fork out the 5c.

However the problem is the fact that every Myer I've been to uses dog eaten card readers, none of the newer paywaves.
