[Factory Seconds] LG MS2336DB NeoChef 23L Smart Inverter Microwave $119 (RRP $219) + Delivery ($0 NSW C&C) @ P&S Electronics

250

Saw the other LG microwave deal from P&S electronics and found this gem. Looking at Ozbargain history it's the cheapest it's ever been. Pickup in NSW for free or delivery.

$219 at HN, JB, GG, Binglee so $100 off.

I price matched at my local JB, and got them to Uber it to me. Says factory seconds anywhere in the description so YMMV price matching with the above retailers.

  • It says "factory second" under the condition tab

    • My bad lol, still a great price and was lucky that JB matched it. YMMV - can’t hurt to try.

You can get pretty lucky if the salesperson isn't overly attentive to the listing. I almost got a $500 discount at Harvey Norman from a factory seconds price match, but the website wouldn't ship to my state. So close.

Can someone shed light on what's special about this one? Or is it just a good quality microwave oven?

I don't think I've ever bought a microwave and I can only think most of them make quite noticeable noise, are loud to close (are there soft-close microwaves?), unnecessarily beep when buttons are pressed, and every single one I've seen makes an irritating, hard to avoid noise when they finish.

And then, some of them can't be started with a single press, ie. you need to choose program/power/time before hitting "start" - as opposed to that single quick start button that runs it full-on for 30s + 30s for each extra press.

Seems you've struggled to work out how to reheat your pizzas in the past.

Don't give up now, just because of one extra button push. You'll get there eventually.

      • It's like 10-20 extra pushes every day, so thousands in a single year. For one person.

Also, as you can see, it's mainly about the noise. I'd love to reheat my slices in the middle of the night without being detected (and waking up the whole apartment, mostly).

This is beyond first world problem.

Nah, I disagree. Many other devices have good UX these days, why can’t microwaves?

This is beyond first world problem.

Isn't OzB about solely about first world problems? Like, take any other deal :) In my defense I've lived like that (!) for years now, but this post triggered the thoughts at midnight.

Many other devices have good UX these days, why can’t microwaves?

        Also this.

    • Yeap, especially the single press start.
I have this microwave, and it does do single press start for 30sec.
Why can't all manufacturers do that? May be copyrights? Or they simply don't care?

  • They should make "Factory Seconds" closer to the title and impossible to miss, rather than hiding it in the Condition tab.

    • Yes, but also it seems the store specialises in such products and "brand new" might not be their main stock.

  • I purchased a few months back for a similar price.
Great microwave that cuts cooking time and is easy to clean. Simple buttons and operation (no need for number pad).

  • 6+ years and still going strong for mine. The only annoyance i have is the jingle when it's done and if you don't open the door, it will keep paying the jingle every few minutes until the end of time

    • I like the repeating jingle, it's a good reminder and not very loud at all.

      • Surely in 2023 you can cancel it in the settings?

        • You'd think that…

        • I think you need to wait until 2025 for the update. But the microwave itself won't last that long apparently.

Press and hold both the 'Clear' and 'Keep Warm' buttons, for about 2-3 seconds. This should turn those jingles and sounds off

      Hope that helps :)

      • Yep that turns it off until the next power cycle, then you'll have to repeat the steps. I used to hate the jingle but actually now prefer it to irritating beeps.

Seems many people have had magnatron issues with this model, perhaps they enclose them too much? I've not had any issues and it's been the best microwave I've ever owned (42L version). I love the even heating, quick slider for time or just hit start multiple times (adds 30s each time it's pressed). I like how the door just pulls open rather than a button. The one at work with a button, the button constantly gets stuck in and then the door won't close and light go off.

Don't discount picking these up second hand though, I got my 42L version in pristine condition from FB marketplace for $100. Only 1.5 years old.
