Groupon Now a Scam Company, They Used to Be Good

I never had a problem with exchanging vouchers for Groupon bucks in the past.

All that has now changed. They refuse to exchange now if you can't make it, you lose your money. I have already lost one and am about to lose another. Their one star reviews are mounting.

Awful company now.

Why couldn't you use the vouchers, Pam?

mostly distance,I asked to exchange for closer to home, never had a problem before, but people are reporting all sorts of problems. even from merchants who have closed down, no refunds

even from merchants who have closed down, no refunds

How is this groupons fault though… its not like Groupon infinitely hold the funds indefinitely until the ticket/booking/ whatever is redeemed…

They should have moved the facility closer to Pam, shithouse customer service, Groupon won't be getting me money anymore.

I think they do, they hold on the funds until the vouchers were redeemed. (That's their income model)

      • +12

So you purchased vouchers away from you cheaper and now complain they won't move them to be closer? Hmmmmm

Please show the court where Groupon touched you on this doll thanks.

Whoever it is they certainly leave a lot of 1 star reviews.

      • Oh wow I find it interesting that it confirms this person's name is indeed Pam. I always though the old username could have been some kind of reference or quote. Like if you made your name "Here's Johnny!" it wouldn't necessarily mean your name is John.

Anyway I'm pleased to have that cleared up lol

Groupon Now a Scam Company, They Used to Be Good

Groupon has always been a scam company. In the early days it scammed the businesses with the promise of driving new customers etc by offer deals that the businesses failed to make money on etc

So groupon got them to agree to 'deals' that cost them money to deliver, turned around and sold them at a profit to users and then scaled the promos crazy, nearly sending a lot of companies broke all on the back of exposure and if these new customers likes your product they might come back*

*they didn't as groupon users are cheap

      ^^^100% this

This was the business model, and it sucks for the business, and now sucks for the consumer.
When these deals first came out, we’d get a cut price lunch, try a new place, and if it was good it would be a place you might go back to.
But quickly it became something where the business hated serving you because they had 300 others also getting the cheap deal, so you never wanted to go back - and normal people stopped using the coupons.
So the only people buying them were the tightest tightwads who put up with the bad vibe, never returned and made it bad for everyone.

This was a decade ago. I can’t imagine how bad it is now.
