Amazon's MacBooks New or Refurbished?

There is currently an M1 Macbook Pro with 1TB of storage on Amazon for $2898 and I don't know if it's refurbished or brand new as it doesn't say, it's being sold by Amazon AU as well. If it's refurbished, do you guys think it's worth buying? I've been waiting at the refurbished store for like a week now and they haven't been putting out a lot of 14 inch Macbooks let alone the M1 version.

Unless the listing specifically says “Refurbished”, it’s safe to assume it’s brand new with warranty if sold by Amazon AU.

    • Thanks, I just find it odd that there's still brand new M1 Pros at Amazon in 2023. Kind of scared to actually try and buy it to only find out there's an internal defect or something.

It's brand new official AU Apple stock. They have an agreement in place since 2018. Not uncommon to offload older stock on Amazon.

Any defects or issues, you can return it for free. There's also change of mind returns until 31st Jan 2024.

        • Yeah, I haven't returned any Amazon products yet but people online said it's very easy to get a refund if it's Sold and Shipped by Amazon themselves. I might just go ahead and try it.

    • Unless the listing specifically says “Refurbished

amazon also uses the term Renewed

  • Have you considered a 15-inch M2 MacBook Air 512GB ($2,119 refurb store) and using the spare cash to get an external SSD?

    • I thought about it but I prefer the screen of the Pro's and the one at the refurb store only has 8gb of ram.

  • link the product you're talking about so we can take a look?

  • Probably warn against buying apple products on Amazon. https://au.finance.yahoo.com/news/aussie-teen-loses-1600-in-… . You’re risking not getting support in case your MacBook goes missing.

    • I see, I might just wait for more refurbished stock in the refurbished store, maybe they'll have more units after new year's or just wait for more ozbargain deals like that M1 Max a couple of months ago.

      • Enh. Would much rather deal with Amazon than MWave if there were an issue.
