        • +1

Doesn't mean you'll get it so onon0402 is not wrong to point it out. But no harm trying I guess

Purchase of gift cards or use of gift cards for full or partial payment.
Purchases using coupon codes not listed on Cashrewards.

  • You are the Santa! Gift sorted.

  • You get lotion + $60, nice

  • isn't this the same stuff you can buy from aldi without paying the brand name and marketing?

    • +5

Looking at its key ingredients, the only notable one is the hyaluronic acid.

So it's probably no better than a million other products.

      • +2

ok, thank you. aldi has some nice moisturiser people are raving about for $3.99

its hard to believe that this is 1500% better to warrant a 1500% price increase. might be marginally better, but definitely not 1500% better.

kinda like a $4 kmart shirt vs a $1000 gucci shirt. will be marginally better, but not 25,000% better. again just paying for the brand name and marketing.

        • +1

It is easy for me to sell you a DDML compared to a shirt though.

Poor people may buy this because some will consider promised beauty to be more important than other things.

          • @Naigrabzo: totally agree with you. sad times that this is the society we live in nowadays.

            • +6

@Hugh G Rection: nowadays? luxury and premium brands existed way before our grandfathers were even born lol

        • +8

Tell me one thing that double the price and double the quality.
You pay double and more to get only slightly better stuff. That’s how the world works.
Same thing applies to anywhere else even like exams, easy to get 80 but you work 10 times harder to get 90. Does that mean 90 is 10 times better than 80? hell no.

        • +13

Skincare is a bit of a rabbit hole, but the gist of it is there is only like two dozen ingredients that's proven to work, so almost all products will be a mixture of the same chemicals, with some kind of a marketing gimmick mixed in. (in this product's case: cucumber, barley and sunflower seed, lol)

Every time my partner shows me some new 'miracle' skincare product she saw on an ad, I search its main ingredients and tell her that we've already got the exact same thing at home.

          • +10

@KiKH: That's simplifying it a bit. Just because products use identical ingredients doesn't mean you get the same outcome.

More importantly is the formulation and concentration of key ingredients. A product that says it has vitamin C but when you check the ingredient list, Vit C is listed as one of the last ingredients means the concentration is so little it's not going to do anything.

Furthermore, there's multiple variation of Vit C, ascorbic acid, ascorbyl palmitate, tetrahexdrcyl ascorbate, etc. All which might or might not work, i.e. ascorbyl palmitate is not that stable, and has only had in-vitro studies done.

        • +6

Yes mark up is a factor.
However you can also really tell the difference in quality when you actually use good skincare vs cheap crap. Especially for those with sensitive skin.
It’s like how you can tell the difference between a $8 Kmart T-shirt and a $50 Country Road T-shirt. Yeah the Kmart one is ok but side by side the CR tee has a nicer feel, better quality cotton that doesn’t stretch out after a couple of washes etc.
I personally think it’s worth buying quality for something that’s being absorbed into your body and I wouldn’t buy Kmart or Aldi skincare. It doesn’t have to be a more luxury brand like Clinique, it could be other decent brands at the chemist like La Roche Posay, Moogoo, Cerave, QV, etc.

          • +3

@Melbournemischief: The cheap may not be crap. The crap may not be cheap.

          • @Melbournemischief: ^this

Tbh I've done the research and actives is where you should invest. That being said I can't use a moisturizer with a bad feel, the way it glides or doesn't, texture and all shudders summer salt body I'm looking at you.

      • +1

        Agreed! Basic ingredients

      • +2

HA isn't special (despite the marketing, glycerin does everything HA is purported to do and better) and it's at the bottom of the ingredients list. The 'special' ingredients in this moisturiser are as the description states - Natural Moisturising Factors which are components that naturally make up part of your skin e.g. urea. And seeing how mineral oil and petrolatum are at the very top (they prevent moisture loss from your skin) it's a moisturiser meant for dry skin types.

Is it worth every penny? No, Clinique is an upscale brand. But it has value that's certainly not purely the bottle and brand name.

And a side note - people don't think about the formulation of skincare products but it matters a LOT. And big beauty companies spend a TON on R&D. It's more than just the ingredient percentages folks!

      • +1

Most people who buy skincare, aren't just buying it for the key ingredients. They buy the formulation, the texture, how it feels on the skin, how it works with other products, how it works with their skin.
While I don't know what makes La Mer so special, from trial and error, some cheap products are cheap for a reason. Good if you don't care and just want something a bit more fancy than bacon oil.

  • +1

    Don’t forget shopback

    • Why though..?

      • Lower cashback than Cashrewards

  • +1

How does this differ from your Cerave and Cetaphil lotions ?

If you have any Prezzee credits to use, you can swap for a Clinique gift voucher and apply it to your purchase!

    • Great tip, but only $20, $50 and $100 denominations available. Can you redeem multiple in one transaction (2x $20) in this example and pay balance with another card?

      • +1

I used a single $50 voucher and then paid the extra $3 or so by card.

It seems like multiple vouchers are possible but not sure on what the maximum is.

        • Did you buy something extra? As this deal is $48 delivered and sounds like you paid $53 in total.

          • +1

@Craze: Most likely extra $5 for express post. I did the same.

You can add multiple gift cards and payment methods and would probably be fine with 2 x $20 and another card

            • +1

@trixieb: Can confirm was able to redeem multiple gift cards at checkout. Thanks! 😊

          • +1

@Craze: I paid the extra $5 to ensure it gets to me before Christmas to put under the tree.

Apparently it arrives tomorrow from the North Pole.

    • +1

@bargain ben Thanks for the tip. Chose express post and used $50 Clinique gift card from Prezzee and paid the $3 balance with a card

  • That’s a great price. Thanks!!

  • Thanks OP, a great deal! Purchased.

  • Thanks OP. Hesitated to buy online initially because of the summer heat (Perth) and effect on the products but took the risk anyway.

I usually buy from Myer or David Jones and this is an amazing deal.

Also got the option of receiving 2 free samples -

    Moisture Surge™ 100H Auto-Replenishing Hydrator 1ml and
Smart Clinical Repair™ Lifting Face + Neck Cream Packette

Added 20% promo code first, then selected the bday bonus option that appeared at cart.
