Not when it comes to doughnuts. That’s a line crossed!

Ignoring the geriatrics, occasional redneck and mostly clueless caravan folk that descend on Bribie, it is still a great bakery.

    • Is there a story about the island? Worth a visit?

Bribie is great when it's not full of tourists.

Biggest problem however, is when there's an accident on the bridge or on Bribie Island Rd……especially when there's heaps of tourists (or clueless caravan folk) around……

I mean, you can watch the short film BeDevil: Mr Chuck if you want to, but I can't recommend it. https://www.ozmovies.com.au/movie/bedevil

      • The best part of bribie is the northern end. The sea broke through and cut it off so its now part its own independent state for a population of sovereign citizen roos.

      • Can't tell you how many times I've had people try an overtake me on the left shoulder on the single lane each way areas.

Also seen a guy on Bribie with a large swastika tattoo on this shoulder. So yeah…….

  • How many are they giving away?

        thanks

  • Are they doing their 1kg doughnuts free too?

    • Unlikely, they cost a fair bit to make. They probably classify them as a cake.

      • Wasn't supposed to be a serious comment but if you finish one in one sitting you get it for free anyway. I didn't know who they were (they claim they are world famous) so looked them up. Maybe the 1kg doughnut challenge is a big reason why they are famous.

        • A lot of bakeries sell 1kg donuts. Costco does as well. The thing about independent bakeries, and probably most kinds of restaurants, they will all have similar menus. You can see trends spread across the state and probably the whole country with pie flavours and donuts and stuff. It's almost like how McDonald's all have the same menu, but for independent restaurants it just spreads naturally. Big donuts, biscoff flavoured deserts, "ned Kelly" pies, etc.

          • @AustriaBargain: I've never seen one before but I don't get out much…

            • @ozbs25: I always go out of my way to visit as many bakeries as I can. Not all sell them, probably not most. But they are common enough to be a thing. Lots of materials go into them because of their size, but the aren't that hard to make. Definitely cheaper and easier than baking a cake for a bakery. If you buy one just slice it up like a cake. If you can't eat it all, freeze it.

  • Do you need a permit?

  • Dammit I went past there today and didn't know.
