PS5 Returned as Defective Due to Loud Fan (SCAMMED)

I am not happy, dealing with eBay is a nightmare as a seller, even if you have proof and video proof. I sold a used PS5 console, they want to return it under "Doesn't work or defective" because the fan is loud.

Lol they sent me a picture of it in a closed space right up against the wall, no wonder the fan is loud. Here is the picture they sent This is not defective, this is normal as said by Sony themselves on their website.

Also just wondering what I can do since I lost my money here while paying for the shipping label TWICE and now have to find another buyer.

Is there any eBay sellers that deal with false cases like this? Were they able to do the seller protection case? How can I do it after I get the item back what's the best way to go about this? I'm above-stated in selling but not top-rated. I even had a video in the listing and eBay says they won't take that as proof. LOL.

Now I have to wait till they send it and guess what they have till the 11 of January that's weeks away lol. So long I have no item and no money, great. Value of it will go down too.

UPDATE I was just scammed!
they stole the ps5 stand and controller cover, they did not send it back with the return, i have the mans full name, address, phone number, i found he has Finance company under their name

Do i call the number, i can drive to their address too. what should I do? opena police report? will they even do anything they are only 36 mins away from me. i can leave bad review on their company on google. or do i just drop it and move on?

  • PS5 does have a very loud fan and yes in an enclosed space it'll get hotter and the fan will need to work harder.

    • yep i know and i explained this to buyer and ebay support, they ignored me im forced to lose money and accept return.

      • Should have sold it over Gumbook. Peopel always want PS5, especially before xmas. The premium on used ones isn't there if they are in stock, but can still get a good chunk of change.

Ebay have a 30 day money back guarantee for the buyer. It's plastered all over the Ebay website. This policy is abused all the time and ebay makes the seller pay so ebay won't be out of pocket.

Selling high value items on ebay is a risk.

The alternative is Scumtree and Farcebook Marketplace. Just be prepared for a lot of drop kicks and scammers messaging you with false payment screenshots and others generally wasting your time.

Does it? I have had my PS5 since launch and it is pretty much silent from about a metre away as long as a disc isn't in there.

      • Yeah, I never hear a thing out of mine other than the beep when I turn it on. My old PS4 Pro, by comparison, sounded like a 747 taking off.

Don’t get too excited, wait until you actually have your item back.

You’re probably going to receive a box of rocks from the buyer then they’ll have eBay refund them anyway

    • probably im going to record it but they dont take video as proof?

        Nope, nothing you can do
        That’s why I don’t use eBay anymore

      • You could make sure it goes to the post office and open it on camera in front of the post office staff.

    • yes i got scammed, see update

      • Thought that would happen, sorry about that

Most likely using a fake or stolen identity to set up the account, so don’t asssume it’s definitely the person you were dealing with

        • 100% real they have feedback and sell on ebay too.

  • So the missing parcels arrived then? Now your next drama in the saga.

    • yes only one not amazon so same thing.

  • Yikes should have sold it on Marketplace, they're easier to offload since the new ones are stupidly priced at $800 lol

Message eBay Live Support and inform them that the buyer didn't return everything that was sent to them originally, follow their instructions. They will likely halt a refund until the buyer returns those items. If they don't send them back then eBay will likely deny the refund to the buyer. Like I said, request guidance and follow that guidance very carefully.

Also please tell us you took a photo of the Serial Number of the one you sent and cross-referenced with the one you received to make sure the buyer didn't do the good ol' switch-a-roo with possibly a faulty one?

its the same ps5, working fine, not sure why they even returned it they ignored all my messages. i was able to get my money back and able to resell ps5 but for cheaper without stand.

      • Ah true I just realised this was posted in December. Hahaha I thought this was a newish post.

Well done with getting your money back, and then being able to sell it again. Worked well in your favour :)
I figured eBay would side with you if the buyer failed to return the items or respond to your requests for them to return the items.

I'm assuming eBay refunded you but also refunded the buyer out of their pocket? (Which is something they do in rare circumstances when it's difficult to side 100% with buyer or seller, to keep both parties happy)

        • yep buyer got away with it.
but i made around $1100 because of this, but had to deal with stress for weeks
