  You definitely can't buy black steel, put a powder-coat on it, and then just put it outside, it's long been known that steel needs to be galvanised (hot dipped zinc coated) before being powder-coated to ensure a long lasting, rust-free experience, clearly this bench hasn't been, the galvanising alone would cost more than the original price of the bench.

    Just season the cast iron. Wipe with olive oil and put it in a very hot oven.

  Neighbour got rid of this - very rusted & risky to sit on after few years. Was uncomfortable when in use without adding padding.

  Thanks. Gonna chop up and hinge the wrought iron sections to use as mini gates for my two small trees the dogs keep digging up. See how bad the steel is XD.
